Large Egg A New Hamp shire red hen on the D. W. Pence ranch near Trail may claim her place in the "hall of oddities." Pence recently ex hibited an egg he said was laid by the hen. Circumferences were seven and four inches, re spectively. The egg weighed eight ounces and contained two yolks. . Business Visitors Mrs. Dolly Holland and daughter Shirley of Central Point; Clifford Lewis of Everett, Wash.; O. W. Abbott of Talent were among Medford business visitors yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Amos Williams and daughter Mary of Prospect and Ben Ellis of Applegate were here today. Son Born Word has been re ceived here by relatives of the birth of a son at Peninsula Com munity hospital at Carmel, Cal., to Lieut, and Mrs. Robert C. Minear. Born March 26 the baby has been named Philip Steven. Lieut. Minear, the son of Mrs. Jessie M. Minear of this city, is with the 391st engineers, U. S. army. Church Meeting Annual business meeting of the Feder ated church at Central Point is scheduled for tomorrow eve ning. The meeting will be pre ceded by a pot-luck supper be ginning at 6:30. Special music by the men's quartet and by Mrs. Ruth Clark and Miss Ruby Webster will be presented in a service following the meeting. Begins Work Miss Elva E. Thompson took up her duties to day as a junior clerk in the Crater Lake National park of fice in the Medford Federal building. Before accepting her civil service appointment she was employed with the Southern Oregon Credit Bureau and also at Camp White. A former resi dent of Talent she is making her home at 305 Portland avenue. STATE RESTS IN The state rested and the de fense opened today in the trial of Bay Lippert charged with rape. Twelve prosecution wit nesses were called yesterday including the 16-year-old com plaining witness, who was on the stand two hours. Most of the courtroom aud fence was composed of residents of the Pinehurst district, where both complainant and defendant resided. The final witness for the state was Dr. L. D. Inskeep, who gave medical testimony. It is anticipated the case will be in the hands of the Jury com posed of six men and six women by noon tomorrow. . EASTER EGG HUNT The annual Easter egg hunt, sponsored by Medford Kiwanis club, is to be held in the city park Saturday at 10 . m. and all children in the community up to and including 12 years of age are welcome. The hunt will start promptly at 10 o'clock for 600 or 700 colored eggs hidden in various places in the park by the Easter bunnies. This Easter egg hunt Is a year ly project by the Medford Ki wanis club for the youngsters of the community and it is hoped that children who have come to the vicinity recently will participate in the fun. The committee also has candy eggs which will be distributed from the loud speaker stand which will be set up in the park for this occasion. TWENTY GET LICENSE FOR MARCH WEDDING Marriage licenses Issued by the county clerk during March totaled 20, one more than in February with 19. Dog licenses issued to date 2,756, of which in the neighbor hood of 400 were tor dogs whose owners failed to procure tags until after March 1, when a penalty of $1 was added.
