Mr. Crandall, who has been in the engineering depart- I ment of The California Oregon Power company for the past eight years, has been transferred to the northern California city by the company. ' Medford Visitor Charles W. Lawrence, professor of voice at the University of Washington, Seattle, arrived in this city Sun day night by United Mainliner for a two-day stay. He has been assisting Mrs. Effle Kurtz with her vocal students while in this city and also music students at the high school. Mr. Lawrence visited in Medford several years ago. Enlisted Sgt. Joseph W. Cushman, commander of the army recruiting station in the Medford Federal building, was notified officially today of the formal enlistment of the follow ing men at Portland since Feb ruary 27: Charles H. Betz, Route 4, Box 318-B, Billie A. Wilhelm, Grants Pass and Herbert R. Botts, employe of the Timber Products company who signed up for the parachute troops. Magicians Visit C. L. Eng lish, magician from Michigan, and his manager, George Brown, visited with John Eads, local magician, of 29 Kenwood ave nue, last evening. English, who is billed as "Will Rogers Double," because of his resem blance to the late humorist, has just completed a tour of the United States. He is now ap pearing before army and CCC camps on the Pacific coast. Great Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Walker of 417 East Main street are great grandpar ents, word was received here today. An eight pound son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Barber in Santa Maria, Cal., yesterday. Mrs. Barber is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clark Walker of Santa Maria, Cal., and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Walker. The new arrival is the first great grandchild for the Walkers. Traffic Fines Viola Kershaw was fined $5 in city court yes terday for parking her car in an alley. Martin Luther, charged with double parking without a driver, was fined $2.30. Merna E. Lemery was fined S2.S0 for double parking her car without a driver. W. H. Fluhrer posted $2.50 bail for parking his car in front of a fire plug. Charged with passing at an intersection, Arnold L. Badger posted $5 bail. Jean R. Watkins posted $5 bail for parking her car in an alley. Lawrence E. Workmen have completed installation of the lighting system wherein each trailer is attached to the main line for individual service. Rapid progress has been made on installation of the laundry and bath houses and It is ex pected that they will be in com plete operation tomorrow. Hot and cold water and laundry fa cilities are furnished tenants of the camp. A 1.000 gallon hot water tank assures an ample supply for the showers housed in a special building. Through courtesy of the For est Service department 25 tents were loaned to the camp to house workers unable to secure accommodations In the city. It is also planned to set aside a portion of the camp site for per sons who may wish to erect temporary quarter of their own in case of an acute housing shortage. The committee in charge of the camp for the county empha sizes that their plan is only to take care of whatever overflow private facilities are unable to handle and that trailers should ! be sent to the county camp af ter private facilities are filled.
