Cochran, senior federal proba tion officer for Oregon, left this morning for Roseburg after transacting official business here. He arrived yesterday from .Klamath Falls. - Topic Announced "Lot's so journ in Sodom and God's mercy in getting him and his children out," is announced as the topic tonight at the revival services at the Church of God at Haven and Holly streets.- Cars Collide Mrs. H. C. Goldsmith of 369A Ross Lane, and Harold Peterson of Thomas road, drove cars that collided on East Sixth street near Front street late yesterday afternoon. It was shown by a report on file today. Minor Mishap -J. H. Kieper of Grants Pass and Olaf Jensen of 702 Park avenue, operated cars Involved in a minor acci dent late Wednesday afternoon at- Eighth street and Central avenue, it was stated in a report on file today. e Fined James S. Vincent, route 3, charged with having no windshield swipe on an auto, was fined SI and $4.50 costs in Justice court yesterday. Clarence E. Miller, charged with driving a truck with an overload, was ' assessed $2.50 and costs. To Meeting Dr. James C. Hayes, Medford physician and surgeon, left early this morning by United Mainliner for Seattle to attend the annual meeting of the Seattle Surgical . society to day and tomorrow. Dr. Hayes planned to return home Sunday and to resume his practice at his offices in the Medford Cen ter building Monday morning Wall Fire Slight damage was done by fire early this morning in the living room wall of the apartment of Everett Coombs, 838 Dakota avenue. The blaze was caused by a de fective flue, firemen said. The fire occurred at 6:47 while a strong wind was blowing. Fire - men, answering a ward alarm, ' confined the blaze to the wall. The property Is owned by H. D. Pyle who resides In the downstairs apartment. Dies In Long Beach Mrs. Minnie Ruth Stone, 70, former Medford resident, died at a Long Beach, Cal., hospital Jan uary 6 after a short illness, ac cording to word received here During their residence in this city from 1911 to 1923 Mr. and Mrs. Alton W. Stone lived at 19 Ross court and Mr. Stone, employed at the First National bank, also owned an orchard on the Jacksonville highway Mrs. Stone was active in Red Cross work during World war 1 f 0 x ana was meiiiutrr ui v.j-.-j She is survived by her husband, a foster daughter, Miss Elsie Farris, who was employed In the law office of Gus Newbury here and is now practicing law In Long Beach, and other rela tives. After leaving Medford the Stones resided at Wilming ton, Cal., for three years, later moving to Long Beach. Plane Passengers Leaving by 'United Mainliner this noon were W. Scott to Denver, Colo.. ' Information Wanted Anyone knowing the whereabouts of August Walruff, last known to be working on the Van Hoven burg ranch in Sams valley, is asked to notify the American Red Cross office In the county courthouse. The Red Cross of fice Is trying to contact Walruff in order to give him Informa tion regarding his brother, e e e Snow Depth A 48 hour old snow report today Indicated that the snow was 37 inches deep at headquarters at Crater Lake national park. Twenty four hour old weather reports from the Crater Lake park of fice In the federal building show ed maximum to be 42 and mini mum 28 degrees. Officials at park headquarters said that res ervations for skiers were not filled last week-end. Trailer Mishap R 1 c h a r d Westerberg, 18, Ashland, a stu dent, was the driver of a car and trailer involved in an acci dent on a bridge of U. S. high way 99-E, 17 miles south of Salem yesterday mor;.ng, ac cording to a report on file here' today. Westerberg reported that his trailer whipped into a car operated by W. H. Boyer of Salem when the hitch of the trailer broke. Son Born According to word received here today a son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bernard A. Young at Honolulu, T. H January 20. The baby has been named Bernard A. Young, Jr., and weighed seven pounds, six ounces at birth. Mrs. Buchan nan, well known here, is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. E. Buchanan of Eugene and .Mr. Young is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.' J. Young of Roseburg. Building Permits W. B. Smith applied yesterday at the city building inspector's' office for a permit to build an addi tion to the residence of 437 West Holly street at a stated cost of $50. Jesse Glass applied for a license to reshingle the residence at 230 Beatty street at a stated cost of $80. Mrs. H. Gates applied for a permit to remodel the residence at 103 Newtown street at a stated cost of $200. J. C. Boyle applied for a permit to remodel the second floor of the residence at 1019 South Oakdale avenue at a stated cost of $200. "Prop Nuts" Show Models In Display At Rialto Theatre Special attention Is being called to the interesting model airplane display in the lobby of the Rialto theatre where it will be kept until the opening of the Universal Pictures fea turette, "Cavalcade of Avia tion," which plays Tuesday and Wednesday at the popular show rouse. The display was ar ranged through the courtesy of 'he local model airplane club, the "Medford Prop Nuts," with Allan Buckingham, one of the more active members, In charge.
