L I Paul Meyers, assistant cashier of the Medford branch of the First National Bank of Port land, has been promoted to a position in the loan supervision department of the state-wide bank's head office In Portland. It was announced today by Eu gene Thorndyke, manager here. Mr. Meyers, who started with the bank here in August, 1928 has progressed rapidly and is promising young offficer, ac cording to Mr. Thorndyke. He will leave to take over his new duties Immediately. He will be replaced here by C. E. Hedberg, now assistant cashier of the bank's branch at Ashland. Mr. Hedberg started with the First National bank of Ashland In 1922 and became a member of the state-wide bank's staff in 1937 when It bought the Ashland bank. M. A. Marley, pro assistant cashier of the bank's Medford branch, will leave immediately for Ashland t assume Mr. Hed berg's duties. FINAfRiTESTOR Esther E. Hohl Kruggel, wife of Rcinhart F. Kruggel passed away at a local hospital at 11:19 on Thursday after a very short Illness. Mrs. Kruggel a native daugh ter of Oregon was born at Cot tage Grove on March 2, 188S, being aged S3 years. She had been a resident of Medford for the past 12 years, and was unlt 1 ed in marriage to Mr. Kruggel on November 30, 1940. Besides her widower, she leaves one sister In Cottage Grove, Oregon, two step-children, Lois Dae and Roland. Funeral services will be con ducted from the Perl funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Karl Brockhaus of the Zion English Lutheran church officiating. Interment will take place in the Siskiyou Memorial Park. CLAIM 17 LIVES Spokane, Wash., Jan. 18 UP) An army bombing plane on routine flight Wednesday after noon crashed and burned 13 miles southeast of Boise, Idaho, killing the nine men aboard, second air force headquarters said today. San Bernardino, Calif., Jan. 18 VP) Bodies of eight mem bers of a B28 army bomber crew have been recovered and the ninth Is believed to be under neath wreckage of the plane in the vicinity of Cajon Pass. Deputy Coroner Edward P. Doyle said a severed arm, identi fied from a finger ring as from the body of Pvt. Vernon H. Englebrecht of Fort Wayne. Ind., was found In the wreckage. Bodies of the eight other vic tims were thrown clear. JERSEY BREEDERS MEET TOMORROW The annual meeting of the Rogue River Jersey Cattle club will be held at 1:30 p. m.
