Snow Granular A ski bulle tin received from Union Creek today by the Rogue River na tional forest office said that old snow at Union Creek is topped with a granular crust. Skiing was reported to be good in the morning but snow is melting by afternoon. The highway is clear. Meeting Tomorrow Senior air raid wardens of five precincts win meet at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce at 7:30 p. m. tomorrow to receive in structions regarding their work from Frank Hull, civilian de fense coordinator. Such meet ings will be held until all the 80-odd senior wardens of the county have received instruc tions, Mr. Hull said. To Carry On The Jackson County Council of Defense meet ing last night at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce resolved to carry through all civilian defense plans as di rected by the state council and military authorities. The coun cil approved the executive com mittee's actions since the pre vious meeting. Reports were received from all division heads. Brother Dies Mrs. William P. Holt of 11 Corning Court left this morning for Berkeley, Cal., to attend funeral service tomorrow afternoon for her brother, Lawrence D. Purdy, who died suddenly Tuesday in Los Gatos, Cal. Mr Purdy, who resided in Berkeley, suffered a stroke -while he was In Los Gatos and died without regain ing consciousness. Mrs. Holt Is the wife of Dr. Holt, physician and surgeon. Jobs Open Procurement In spectors of various grades are wanted by the government for employment in the materiel division of the U. S. air corps, western procurement district. The U. S. civil service commis sion will conduct examinations to fill the positions, the salaries of which range from $2900 a year to $1620. D., where she spent three weeks visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Christensen. Miss Christensen returned to Med ford by way of Portland. She is employed in the office of Dr. C. E. Kun. Field Enlarged George Brown, deputy county brand inspector, has taken over the city of Med ford, the territory previously covered by Clyde Fichtner who recently resigned as deputy in spector. Brown will continue to serve as deputy inspector in the areas adjacent to Medford. His territory was expanded by Evan Hartin, brand inspector for southern Oregon in the depart ment of agriculture. Ho Stamps Yet Postmaster Frank DeSouza announced to day he had received instructions regarding issuance of the fed eral motor vehicle stamps but no stamps. He expected the stamps to arrive momentarily. A special window for sale of the stamps will be opened until the peak of the expected busi ness is over, he said, and then they will be sold at the regular stamp windows. The postmaster said there were about 11,000 motor vehicles In Jackson coun ty. He did not know, however, whether cars and trucks not actually in use had to have the stamps.
