Eon Safe Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham of 108 Cottage street received a letter today from their son, Pat, Jr., who is an able seaman on a ship and was safe. Pat has been in the navy over a year and was stationed at Pearl Harbor prior to December 7. Plana Passengers Ben John son arrived from Portland by United Mainliner late last eve ning. United Mainliners were running late today because of unfavorable weather conditions along the coast. Cyclist Hit Mabel Hampel of Route 2 was the operator of a car that struck a newspaper carrier or a bicycle on Court street near McAndrews road late yesterday aftemoop, according to a report on file today. The report indi cated no injury. The boy would not give his name, the report stated. " Cars Collide Samuel Rorrl son of Seattle and Ray Bolton of Rogue River were .he drivers of cars that collided on the Pacific highway a mile south of Rogue River last Tuesday morning, it vas shown in a report on file Joday. In his report Rorrison said that Bolton turned abruptly into the path of his car to enter a driveway. To Study Fire Chief Roy El liott, head of the fire protection division of the Jackson County Council of Defense, Ed Mann, one of his committeemen, and C. J. Baughman, fire chief of Ashland, will leave Sunday for Portland to attend a school on the handling of incendiary and demolition bombs. The school will be conducted by U. S. army Instructors, representatives of every civilian defense council of the state having been ordered to attend. The men will study 12 hours a day for three days. December 22, 23 and 24, the school ending at 9 p. m. Christ mas eve. Because of the school, the three men going from here will miss Christmas at home. (JPi The labor-management confer ence resumed its third straight day of discussions today amid reports that the CIO and the AFL had agreed on a proposal for uninterrupted industrial pro duction for the duration of the war.
