' Cars Collide Cars operated
by Clarence Stelle, 17. 345 North
Bartlett street, and Mrs. Elmer
Hall, Cherry Lane, collided yes
terday afternoon at the Pacific
highway and Stewart avenue.
Mrs. Hall's report on the acci
dent had not been filed at city
lice station up to noon.
To California Mr. and Mrs.
Jack G. Fowler, 34 Vancouver
avenue, left by motor today for
Sacramento, San Francisco and
Santa Rosa, Cal., on a combined
business and pleasure trip. They
plan to spend several weeks in
California and will visit with
Dr. D. F. Herd In Sacramento,
brother of Mrs. Fowler.
Fewer Apply Applications
for temporary auto licenses filed
at the sheriff's office to date
number 350, with a noticeable
decrease of applicants yester
day and today because, It was
thought, of the rain and Christ
mas buying. Autoists have until
January 1 to apply. Some are
ordering directly from the secre

card received by his parents.

operated a car that struck a
pedestrian at Oakdale avenue
and Main street late last night
it was shown in a report on file
today. No injury was Indicated
Mr. Leonard, in his report, did
not Identify the pedestrian but
police said It was Robert Sling

Backs Into Truck John P.
Nansen, 59, Route 3, Box 18,
reported that a car backing out
of a driveway ran into his dairy
truck when it was stopped at
East Main street and Portland
avenue yesterday morning. The
driver of the car was quoted as
raying he did not see the truck
in the fog. The filed report did
not identify the car driver.

son, Ralph Bullock, missionary

Blade Tips Car The blade of
a snowplow being operated by

wheel of a car operated by
Victor Conover, 28, Shady Cove,
on the Butte Falls highway yes
terday afternoon, it was shown
in a report on file today. The
car was ditched, the report said.
Denzer s report said there was
not enough clearance for the tip
of the blade.
Case Stolen On file at city
police headquarters today was
a report that a brief case type
of leather grip was stolen from

Pledger of Oakland. Cal., when
It was parked on North Grape
street near Main street y ester
day morning. Pledger, a furni
ture salesman, said the case
contained papers and receipts
of no value to anyone else. The
case was impressed with the

arrived home yesterday from
Pensacola, Fla., on a 22-day
furlough. He has been in train
ing In naval aviation since
June 8. Ettinger flew from Pen
sacola to San Francisco and
completed his journey north by
train. He will leave in January
for Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where
