Mrs. Schlund will visit at the W. F. Schlund home at Phoenix. Reside Here Mr. and Mrs. William Newman have taken up residence at No. 8 Durell Court, North Third and Holly streets. The Newmans returned Tuesday evening from Tacoma, Wash., where they were mar ried Sunday. Mrs. Newman is the former Florence Green of this city. Blanket Stolen Edward Law, Central Point, reported to police today that a gray army blanket was stolen Wednesday from his car when it was parked on Third street near Apple street. Charles Smith, Butte Falls, re ported that a tire was stolen from his car. e Oven Fire The fire depart ment answered a general alarm a few minutes after noon today when gTease In the oven at Dow's restaurant, 31 North Holly street, ignited and created considerable smoke. The grease burned itself out without doing any damage. a a To Jail George Doss and Jeremiah White, Medford, were each sentenced to five days in Jail by Judge W. W. Allen in city court this morning on charges of being drunk in a public place. The men were arrested during the night while they were having a scuffle on the Southern Pacific rail road right-of-way. Driver Fined Peter Toskan, 524 West Fourth street, was fined $10 in city court yester day afternoon for failure to yield right-of-way at an inter section. Toskan's car and one operated by Lois I. Snyder, 506 Haven street, collided in the Central avenue and Fourth street intersection Tuesday eve ning. Plana Passengers W. McCul ly arrived from Oakland, 'Cal., yesterday afternoon on the early morning plane which was run ning late because of unfavorable weather conditions along the coast. S. Brooks arrived from Portland on the forenoon Main liner which was also running late yesterday afternoon. Leav ing for San Francisco were E. Albert and J. Taylor. . Collision Robert T. Leslie. 24, Ashland, and Stephen O. Wilson, 30, Sams Valley, were operators of motor vehicles that collided yesterday afternoon on Riverside avenue near Main street, it was shown in a report on file today. Mr. Leslie said in his report that he had stopped behind two other cars to wait for the light signal when the truck operated by Mr. Wilson struck from the rear, Mr. Leslie saying that the truck had no brake fluid and therefore could not stop. At Pearl Harbor Among lo cal people in the Pacific theater of war is M. J. Tungate, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tungate of Butte Falls. Tungate is stationed at the naval air base at Pearl Harbor, subjected to severe Jap anese bombing last Sunday, and, his parents said In a note to the Mail Tribune today, "no doubt he saw plenty of action." He has been at Pearl Harbor for a year and a half. His family resides in Honolulu. Guest Speaker Andrei Iso toff, new geography instructor at the Southern Oregon College of Education, will be guest speaker at the meeting of the Jackson County Intermediate Teachers council Saturday at 11 a. m. in the county court house auditorium. Mr. Isotoff has traveled extensively in east ern Europe and his discussion is expected to be particularly interesting. A good attendance is desired by officers of the council. To Fort Ord Dr. Werner Pundt, 1709 East Main street, received word today that he has been called to active army duty at Fort Ord. Cal. With Mrs. Pundt and their daughter Char lotte, he plans to leave Medford by motor Saturday and will take up residence at Gonzales, near Fort Ord, where he will serve as first lieutenant with the corps area service command Dr. Pundt has resided In Med ford. for the past four years. Bands and Vocalists From Towns of Area In Concert Tomorrow Band and choral groups from Medford. Grants Pass, Butte Falls and Ashland were in re hearsal today with Dr. Theo dore Kratt, dean of music at University of Oregon and Pro fessor John Stehn, bandmaster at the university. The group will present a concert to the public tomorrow at 8 p. m. at the high school auditorium. The program Includes: "Gallia, a motet" by Gounod by the chorus of 250 voices, followed by Intermission. The band numbers will include "Americans We," march by Fillmore; "Midnight in Paris" by Magisdon;" "Bridal Song" from "Rustic Wedding Sym phony by Goldmark; "Youth Triumphant," overture by Had ley, and "Banner of Democ racy," march by Hayes. Strict Censorship For Ft. Lewis News Fort Lewis, Dec. 11 (JPh Army officials said today a strict program for censorship of all news emanating from Fort Lewis had been put Into effect. Public relations officers of the 41st and 3rd divisions, the post headquarters and the 9th army corps headquarters will submit their releases to Lieut. Col. Ray mond C. Lehman, corps military intelligence officer who in turn will pass them on to the civilian press when approved. Blackouts Are Ended in British Columbia Victoria, B. C, Dec. 11. (CP Inspector S. F. M. Moody, provincial director of civil pro tection, announced today black outs in British Columbia would be discontinued until further notice. Inspector Moody said word to this effect had gone out to all civil protection units which during the past three nights have enforced blackout restric tions in British Columbia coastal districts. SUICIDE SEEN Spokane, Dee. 11 (IP) Police patrolling the Division street bridge to guard against sabotage were startled witnesses of a suicide leap last night, reporting an unidentified man jumped from the bridge Into the Spo kane river.
