McCrabb, representative of L. B. Manning, California airplane manufactur er, was here yesterday to ar range for the purchase of a large quantity of lotus seed from the Hoover-Poston seed nursery for planting on the famo'M 3500-acre Armour ranch near Santa Barbara, Cal., which Mr. Manning bought recently. Mr. McCrabb was accompanied by his wife. Auto Accident City police reported that a car driven by William R. Bennett of 114V4 Tripp street, traveling west on Main street, was struck on the left side by a truck, moving east on Main street, as the latter made a left turn into Riverside avenue. The driver of the truck, police said, left his 1937 Dodge truck at the scene and walked away. His identity was being sought today. . Soldier Moved A military policeman this morning removed Robert L. White, 20, Klamath Falls, from the county Jail here to take him to Vancouver Bar racks Wash., where army of ficers will consider his case. White, a soldier at Fort Lewis, Wash., gave himself up here last Saturday and said he was absent without leave from his post. Moser left last evening for Portland. O. Rosto departed yesterday noon for Portland. . Enlists In Navy Richard Nel son, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Nelson of Route 2, was formally .enlisted in the U. S. naval re serve as a hopltel corpsman at Portland last Monday, Jack M. Carpenter, recruiter here, was officially notified today. Nelson is now at the naval training station at San Diego, Cel., un dergoing three weeks of indoc trination training before being assigned to a naval hospital for duty. Carpenter said. Nelson was accepted tentatively for en listment at the Medford re cruiting office in the federal building. Enlist In Army Four more men from this district were en listed December 2 at Portland in the regular army air corps. Sat. Joseph W. Cushman, local army recruiter announced to day. They were Paul A. and-. Norman L. Larson, sons of Oscar L. Larson. Yreka. Calif.. Edgar C. Meek of Gazelle, Calif , and Jack Clifton, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Clifton, Days Creek. The men were assigned to Jefferson Barracks. St. Louis. Mo., for their first 12 weeks of training, after which they will be able to specialize in some type of air corps work now of fered. The Lnrosn boys expect to take up enlisted pilot train ing, while the other two men feel more qualified for airplane mechanics, Sgt. To Klamath Falls Mrs. Nor val H. Jones of 8 Newtown street left today by motor for Klamath Falls where Mr. Jones underwent a major operation yesterday. Mr. Jones Is super intendent of the Oregon state highway shops at Klamath Falls. Slightly Injured Myra Myrtle Babb of Talent reported to po lice that Ray Scoville, a pedes trian, walked Into the side of her car a half mile south of Medford on the Pacific highway yesterday afternoon. The pedes trian was slightly injured, the driver of the car reported. . Parachutists Wanted Accord ing to word received today by Sgt. Joseph W. Cushman, local regular army recruiter, the re cruiting service will now accept five men for the parachute group. Fort Benning. Ga., from Medford and vicinity. To be eligible for this type of training, Sgt. Cushman said, the appli cant must be between the ages of 21 and 30, unmarried and not more than 183 pounds In weight. - He must also have served In the U. S. army within the-last-two years and have a good military record. Anyone interested in parachute training may contact Sgt. Cushman in the Medford federal building. Rain At Park Short-wave radio communications between Crater Lake. national park and headquarters here failed to function again this morning and the latest available weather information was that brought to Medford last evening by Dr. George C. Ruhle, park natural ist. When Mr. Ruhle arrived in the park early yesterday after noon snow was falling but when he left late in the afternoon it was raining, headquarters re ported. Six inches of snow fell during the day, 'giving a total fall of about 19 inches for two days. Immediately prior to the two-day snowstorm, new rain fall records were established in the park.
