INDIANS FAVORED DESPITE POTENCY OF WSC OFFENSE Both Teams Weakened By Injuries To Star Players Beavers . Play Bears. San Francisco, Nov. 14. (JP) Stanford charges into the home stretch in its drive for a second straight Pacific Coast confer ence championship when it faces Washington State tomorrow in the far west's top football en counter. The W. S. C. Cougars, the coast's most-Improved team in recent games, are the next-to-last hurdle in Stanford's Rose bowl path. ' But the Cougars have shown a penchant for knocking over potential champions this season, and may give the T-formation Indians their toughest battle of the year in the contest at Palo Alto. Already W. S. C. has beat en Oregon, which gave Stanford terrific battle in the season opener, and Oregon State, only team to wallop the Indians. Armstrong Out Both teams will be handi capped by injuries to star play ers, but Stanford has been in stalled as a heavy favorite. The Indians will be minus the serv ices of speedy Halfback Eric Armstrong, while Washington State may have to forego its tamed passing attack because of Billy Sewell's arm injury. The 1 Cougars have done all right without passing, though, win ning their last three games by their strong ground game. If Stanford gets by this one, It has only to dump a banged-up California eleven in the coast's "big game" two weeks away. One victory in their last two games would automatically give the Indians at least a tie for the conference title, and two wins would sew up the Rose bowl bid.
