Parker, assistant superintendent of Cra ter Lake national park, and George T. Hopper, resident en gineer, left winter headquarters here this morning to spend the day in the park. ... To Conference Mayor H. S. Deuel and Glenn L. Jackson, president of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, left by United Mainliner for Portland this morning to confer with Col. Joseph L. Stromme, commander of the Portland airbase. The men were to discuss Medford municipal airport, It was under stood. Finad Levied Ross David Riggs of 719 Welch street was fined $23 and his operator's li cense was revoked for 80 days in city court yesterday on a charge of violation of the basic traffic rule on East Main street, charged with parking In an Mley, Waiter A. Cormany and A. A. Young were each fined 35. Horace F. Knight was fined $5 for blocking an alley and Harold E. Lind, charged with double parking with no driver in the car, was fined S2.50. Special Music The Hawaiian Senenaders, an organization that has remained Intact since its previous appearance here in j 1936, will provide music fori dancing after the weekly meet-; ing of the Fraternal Order of i Eagles in the lodge hall at 42! The lodge session will . start at 7:30. i ! In the Navy Jack L. Drager, j son of Mr. and Mrs. V. L. Dra gcr of 521 Dakota avenue, is now in recruit training at the U. S. naval station at San Diego, Cal. After the six weeks' train ing period he will be enrolled for a course of 20 weeks In the navy's aviation radio school at the San Diego naval air sta tion, Mr. Dragcr having chosen aviation radio ai his specialty. The youth has had two years of study at Oregon State college where he was majoring in for estry. He was graduated from Medford high school May 28, 1939. After being accepted tent atively by the navy's recruiting office here, he passed the final qualifying physical examination and was formally enlisted In the service at Portland November 7. Plana Passengers Arriving from Los Angeles this morning on the delayed night plane of United Air Lines were Miss Frances Myers and A. S. Bar rows. Leaving were Capt. H. B. Bcntley and Miss B. Weber, to Portland, and A. A. Laus man, to Seattle. The early morn ing plane passed over Medford because of unfavorable landing weather. Arriving early last night from Portland were N. Kelly. H. Kaplin, P. L. Hanson and H. Rubenstein. E. P. Ivory departed last evening for San Francisco. William Cauley ar rived from Oakland, Cal., yes terday afternoon. Leaving for Portland were Joseph K. Car son, Jr., R. M. Propst and Miss L. Angel. Mr. and Mrs. R. Pointer arrived from Los Ang eles yesterday on the delayed early morning plane. Departing were M. Caruza, to Seattle, and J. K. Hoey, to Portland. Here Today Mrs. Arnold Junghans of Grant Pass was among Medford business visit ors today. Clear The weather at Crater Lake national park was clear and warm today, It was reported by headquarters here. Aerial Stol.n George Ray of Route 2 reported to the city po lice that his automobile radio aerial was broken off and stolen, along with the radiator cap, from his car when it was parked on North Grape street yester day. ... An derson, landscape architect at Crater Lake national park, left by car this morning for Lassen Volcanic national park in north am California where he will spend about a week on a special assignment. ... Building Permits J. H. Jones of 709 Alder street applied at the city building inspector's of fice today for a permit to repair a roof at a stated cost of $50. Mrs. E. Peter of 811 West 13th street applied for a permit to make an addition to her resi dence at a stated cost of $400. ... - Display St. Anne's Altar so ciety today called attention to the big doll, Nancy Lee, it has on display at the Band Box, 223 East Sixth street. The doll, which has a complete, modern wardrobe which also is on ex hibit, will be one of the gifts to be presented to the society's ball festival in the St. Mary's ac ademy gymnasium November 18. The doll is 22 inches tall. ... Promoted Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Woodford of 528 South Holly street have received word of the promotion of their son-in-law. Curtis Jester, from second to first lieutenant in the 38th field artillery. U. S. Army, at Fort Sam Houston, San An tonio, Texas. Mrs. Jester the former Jean Woodford, has many friends here. Both she and Lieut. Jester are graduates of Oregon State college. ... Shark on Display Hoily'i Seafood Market, 126 East Sixth street, has on display a five-foot soupfish shark which was brought from Crescent C'.ty, Cal., yesterday. The shark weighed between 80 and 90 pounds and the liver sold for around $30. R. L. Hollcnbeck, owner of the market said.
