The Imlays were en route home after an extended business and pleasure trip to Chicago, 111. CALENDAR Mildred Sargent Weds Mr. Gibson In Quiet Ceremony Eagle Point. Nov. 8 (Spl.) Mildred Marguerite Sargent, of Sawyer's Bar, Cal.. daughter of Mrs. Augusta Seefield of Eagle Point and John Francis Gibson, also of Sawyer's Bar, were mar ried in Medford Monday after noon with the Justice of Peace, William R. Coleman reading the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were Mrs. Seefield, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. M. Stidham of Grants Pass, aunt and uncle of the bride. The couple left Grants Pass Monday evening by train for Seattle, Wash., where they will visit Mr. Gibson's mother and other rela tives, among them Mr. and Mrs. William Michel of Tacoma. Mr. and Mrs. Gibson will make their home in Weaver ville, Cal. Marjorie Feebler Enjoying Vacation Miss Marjorie Peebler of Phoenix left Monday evening by train for a two weeks' vacation in the north. She planned to visit Mr. and Mrs. Bob Barton, former Medford residents in Tacoma. Wash., and returning to Portland she will visit rela tives and friends. At McMinn ville Miss Peebler will be a guest of her brother and sister in.l Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peebler. Miss Peebler is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. u Peebler of Phoenix. Health Group Holds Meeting Mrs. T. V. Williams of Phoe nix entertained members of the Phoenix Health group Wednes day. Special guests were Mrs. J.C.S. Weills, president of the Jackson County Public Health association and Mrs. Raymond Driver, of Central Point. Mr. Driver reviewed the re cent book, "Plague On Us," which is one of the new books on the health association book shelf in the health office at the county court house. NaTy Mothers To March In Parade Mrs. Maude Culbertson was hostess to Navy Mothers club at her home, route 3, Wednes day. Mrs. Anna Mears, 11 Van couver street, will entertain the group November 21 at 2 p. m. Mothers are requested to meet November 11 at 10:30 a. m. at the corner of Main and Ivy streets in order to participate In the Armistice Day parade. Miss Elizabeth Ferguson will give a discussion on ' Iraq Govern ment." Zonta Members Plan Dinner For District Chairman Ann Langlow of Tacoma. Wn.,, district chairman of Zonta In ternational, will be honored Saturday at 6 p. m. at a din ner meeting of Zonta at the studio of Mrs. Effie Kurtz. Miss Helen Yockey, former Medford resident, now living in Salem, is expected to be present also. In charge of arrangements for the dinner are Mrs. Kurtz, Mrs. Edith Gilford and Miss Grace Smith. Following the dinner the group will attend the opening of the Medford Ice Arena. Sport Dance To Follow Game Members of the dance com mittee for Daughters of Job sport dance to be held Friday evening at the Masonic temple following the Medford-Ashland football game, met Tuesday at the home of Miss Jeanne Smith, South Newtown street. At that time final plans were discussed for the first social event of the fall season. Invitations have been extend ed to the Grants Pass and Ash land bethels to attend the af fair and local members are in viting friends to attend. Steve Whipple's orchestra will play. Members of the decoration committee met at the Masonic hall this afternoon to begin work on the hall. Meeker of 724 East Jackson boulevard ar rived home Wednesday evening from Flint, Mich., and Indiana where they have been visiting friends. While in Springfield, 111., they stopped at the Lincoln home, the monument and other historical spots. Driving by way of the south west they stopped in Tulsa, Okla., Albuquerque, N. M., Boulder Dam and also in Cali fornia. They encountered a vari ety of weather and according to Mr. Meeker the cross-country trip was enjoyable. The Meek ers Journeyed east by train, tak ing delivery of a new car in Flint, Oak GroT Oak Grove P.T-A. will hold the November meeting at the school house Friday at 3:15 p.m Discussion of the dinner to be held Nov. 16 will be followed by a program and refreshments. Central Point A turkey dinner will be served Armistice day in Central Point high school by the Cen tral Point Parent-Teacher asso ciation. Details of its prepara tion were discussed Tuesday at a meeting of the P.-T.A. execu tive committee at the home of the president, Mrs. P. A. Tracy. Business matters to be brought before members at the regular meeting Friday at 3 p m. were also outlined. A play let and other numbers by stu dents of the second grade will comprise the program. Mrs. E. C. Faber will discuss "Do Adol escents Need Parents?" Refresh ments will be served by the third grade mothers. VALLEY GROCERS ARE GUESTS OF CLOSSET, OEVERS A crowd of 175 grocers of the Rogue River valley and their wives gathered at the Hotel Medford Wednesday night for the 80th anniversary celebra tion of Closset and Devers, mak ers of Golden West coffee. The meeting, replete with cocktail hour, banquet and entertain ment, was arranged by the well known advertising agency, Mac Wilkins and Cole, Inc., promo tional counselors for Golden West Coffee and MacWilkins. president of the company and prominent in advertising circles of the Pacific coast, was toast master. William "Billy" Walker, rep resentative in this area for Clos set and Devers, was prominent in the festivities. The musical entertainment was presented under the personal direction of Showalter Lynch, vice-president of MacWilkins and Cole, and featured Nora Lou, the "Golden West Girl." With Nora Lou were the "Pals of the Golden West", Stephen Janik, Bud Scotty, Kash and Slim. This group has just completed a tour of army cantonments. "Cousin Elmore", well known comedian, was an other featured performer. Following the entertainment, the transcription of the program with visiting grocers included in the cast, was played for the enjoyment of the Golden West guests. Jess Digman, sales man ager for Closset and Devers, was one of the speakers and Clarence Digman presented an enlightening discussion on the subject of coffee roasting tech nique. Following the entertainment two giant birthday cakes were cut with Amy Dow of Jackson ville presiding. A number of invited guests were present. In cluding representatives of the press and radio. The Golden West group left today for Klam ath Falls where a similar ban quet will be held this evening, j VALERIA WHITNEY HURT INSMASHUP ;.A. SUCCUMBS IN C. P. Charles A. Trebesch, 76. pass ed away at his home in Central Point at 7 a. m. today. Mr. Trebesch had resided In Central Point for the last three years. He was born in Germany and came to the states when an Infant. His home was In Tacoma. Wash., before coming here. He was a member of the Federated church at Central Point. Besides his wife, Annie Tre besch, he leaves three children, Mrs. Bertha Jensen and Mrs. Vera Still well of Tacoma and Alma Messacomer of Seattle; also six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Also three brothers. Funeral services will be held at the Conger chapel at 2:30 Saturday with Rev. D. D. Ran dall officiating. The remains will be forwarded ' to Tacoma for interment. Miss Valeria Whitney. 29, of Route 4 was discharged from Sacred Heart hospital this morn ing after spending the night there to receive treatment for bruises she suffered when her car collided with one operated by Elmer Leslie of Medford at South Riverside avenue and Ear hart street late yesterday afternoon. City police said that Leslie, traveling south on Riverside avenue, made a left hand turn into Earhart street and struck the front end of the machine being operated on Riverside by Miss. Whitney. Both cars were badly damaged. It was the second auto acci dent in five days for Miss Whit ney, her machine being involved in a minor crash at Bartlctt and Fifth streets Saturday after noon. .
