From Iowa Mr. and Mrs. Leo Anderson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Bowen and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bowen of Beagle. Volunteers To Meet Volun teers of the Medford fire depart ment will meet at headquarters for their regular monthly session at 7:30 Monday. There will be a hou drill. Chief Rov Elliott said. Retires Col. Harvey H. Fletcher, one-time commander of the Medford CCC district, will retire from the army next De cember 31, friends here learned today. After leaving here Col. Fletcher was assigned to recruit ing duty in Newark, N. J. Back From Meet Ray E. Wright and E. E. Kofoed, local representatives of New York Life Insurance company,, and their wives have returned from the Leaders club meeting held at Del Monte, Calif., for the leading agents of the western department. Here Cn Visit Mrs. Dora Ol son and her daughter. Miss Hazel Woods of Chehalis, Wash., arrived here yesterday for a visit with Mrs. Olson's brother , and sister, M. H. Johnson and Mrs. Minnie Snyder, and their children. The guests will also visit friends here. Horners Home Reported much improved from automo bile accident injuries, Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Homer of 816 Tay lor street returned home from Amarillo, Tex., by United Main liner this morning. They were injured September 21 east of Al buquerque, N. M., when their car overturned during a violent rain storm. After being hos pitalized for several davs at Tu- cumcari, N. M., they went to Amarillo to visit a brother of Mr. Horner's and to get an air plane for home. They were on a vacation tour when the acci dent happened. Plan Passengers Arriving from Portland by United Main liner this forenoon were L. R. Centro, Frank J. Van Dyke and E. Williston. Leaving on the same plane for Los Angeles were George Stonecypher and H. J. Goldeberg. Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Horner arrived early this morn ing from Amarillo, Tex. Leav ing last night were R. K. Jones, ! to Portland, and L. A. Laven saler. to Seattle. V. O. Miller arrived from Portland early last right and Mr. and Mrs. A. Mon roe and infant departed for Los Angeles. Arriving last evening from Portland were C. E. Black well, D. J. Bergman and Max Berry. Leaving were J. T. Wack and W. H. Butikofer, to Los Angeles, and Mrs. D. Ma roney and W. Henry, to San Francisco. Leaving for Port land early last evening were V. Stewart. D. B. Berkheimer and B. Wright. Wright arrived late yesterday afternoon from San Francisco and Max Hoffman de parted for Portland on the same plane. Crass Fire The fire depart ment's chemical crew thii noon put out a grass fire back of the senior high school fence near Melrose avenue and South Holly street. No damage was done. Overnight Quest Ann SJmon arrived here by tTiin today. She was en route to her home in Helena, Mont., after visiting in California. She planned to re main overnight as the guest of Mary Wells, 335 South Ivy street. e Her On Business E. J. Wil liston, Portland, district superin tendent of passenger service, United Air Lines, transacted business here today. He arrived by Mainllner from Portland this forenoon and planned to return north tonight. Horn Mrs. James G. Hayes returned to her home, 835 East Main street, Friday morning by train after several weeks' stay In St. Vincent's hospital In Port land where she underwent a major operation. Her condition was reported improved. Leave Andrew Decker, 329 Apple street, and John Wasson, Jr., Vancouver avenue, left this morning by motor for San Fran cisco. Mr. Decker has been em ployed as an engineer at the ar mory on the architect-engineer staff for the proposed canton ment and Mr. Wasson as a draftsman. To Meeting Dr. Sherman L. Divine, the Rev. H. M. Roberts and Elder John Gribble will leave early tomorrow morning for North Bend where they will attend a two-day meeting of Southwest Presbytery of which Dr. Divine is moderator. NELUE DEAN TAKEN BY DEATH Mrs. Nellie Dean of Central Point died at 3:30 a. m. today in a nursing home at Central Point. A complete obituary and time of funeral arrangements will be printed Thursday.
