Br Maud Pool (Mall Tribune Special Writer) Completing the final division! in showmanship at the fourth annual Jackson county 4-H live stock show opening at the fair grounds here yesterday morn ing, Loree Brennensholtz of Table Rock forged to the front with her well behaved Jersey calf as champion showman of the dairy breeds. Louis (Buck) Walsh of Lake Creek topped the beef showmanship contest as champion with hit well man nered Hereford calf. The showmanship feature of the varied phases of stock rais ing Is an art of its own, con sidering that the judge Is look Jng simultaneously at the poise and tidiness of the young ex hibitors, as well as at the clean liness and behaviour of the an imals. The Chesterwhlte hogs particularly shone in their pink and white glory yesterday, and apparently had submitted to chlorox, soap, "elbow grease,' and talcum powder, all of which were suggested by Cliff Jen-1 kins, Klamath county 4-H lead er, who acted as Judge. A few of the porkers insisted on a little scrapping, however, and the j Duroc-Jersey capturing the' showmanship contest for Nor-1 man Smith of Table Rock, all but had his own way about be- lng photographed by Phil Brain- ! erd. 1 Ribbons Later All exhibitors rating up to sixth place in the numerous features of the show are given paper premiums to be placed in the stalls. B. de partment of agriculture by which th government, In the 1941-42 season, will pay 30 cents box on shipments of winter varieties of pears to di version markets. The agreement applies to growers and shippers of Anjou, Bosc, Winter Nells Cornice and Hardy pears grown in Oregon, Washington and California. Details of the pro gram are procurable from the league.
