Officer Hera Loren C. Coch ran, chief U S. probation officer for Oregon, left this morning by car for Roseburg after transact ing official business here. He arrived las evening from Klam ath Falls. Minor Accident W. A. Brown of 315 Ashland avenue and John Baper, no address listed, drove cars involved in a slight mishap at Central avenue and Eighth street last evening, a report on file said today. Leavet John V. Koester left last night by train for Los An geles where he plans to visit for x e week. Mr Koester resides at 10 Quince street and is em ployed on the architect-engineer staff of t.le proposed cantonment at the armory as draftsman. To Midway Isle Albert Wall, son of Mrs A. M Wall of 628 McAndrews road, plans to leave tomorrow for Alameda, Cal.. whence he will sail Friday in a navy transport foi Midway is land where he wlil be employed In defense construction. Mr Wall will be one of a group of about 60 southern Oregon youths leaving this week for defense construction Jobs on various Pacific islands. Most of the men come from Grants Pass and vicinity. Cosper left for Seattle early this morning. Ar riving from Portland last mid n'ght were L. Amacher and T. Shearer. Arriving last night were D. LaBarr. from Los An geles, and Frank Rogers, from Oakland, Cal. Vic Vettel left for Portland yesterday afternoon. Speakers OrvMe Kingman and George T. Frey spoke on "What Price War" and "Defense Snvings Stamps and Bonds" at the weekly dinner-meeting of the Toastmasters club in the Hotel Jackson last night. S. civil service examination for the position of game man agement agent in the courtroom of Medford federal building to day. In accordance with civil service regulations, his name was not divulged. The exami nation was supervised by Earl H. York, secretary of the local board of civil service examiners. Fined Stephen Senn and A. W. Fenley were each fined $10 in city police court this morn ing on charges of drunkenness. Donald Dean Williams and By ron Smith, also charged with drunkenness, were sentenced to five days in city jail. Given " floaters" out of town, also on drunkenness charges, were Le Koy Graybach, Ross Hatton and James Batt, transients. m Fines Levied Among fines levied by City Judge William Allen in city court yesterday were the following: Burnell C. Cline. charged with failure to give right-of-way, was under way be fore a Justice court Jury today. The case grew out of a head-on collision last June on the Pa cific highway near Central Point, between a car driven by Cline and a Greyhound stage. Nine persons were injured in cluding Cline, who was recent ly released from the hospital. The case is expected to be completed late this afternoon. Hal Piatt, Charles Carlton, John Kirkpatrick, W. D. Roberts, Roy Pruitt, and Robert Taylor, com pose the Jury.
