PAGE SEVEN FBI FILM SHOWS federal bureau of Investigation today showed on a screen In Brooklyn federal court 200 feet 6f film which FBI Agent Wil liam Friedcman said depicted a German spy going over plans and pictures of stolen American war devices. "Star" of the picture was Frederick Duquesne. 63, whom the government charges with leadership over 16 men on trial for espionage conspiracy, IT others who have pleaded guilty and L number of other persons as yet unapprehended. Secretly Mad The fiim, secietly made of Duquesne In animated conversa tion with William Sebold. Amer ican counter-espionage agent, re corded a 24 minute scene in Scbold's office. A clock and cal endar in the background set the time at 6:18-6:32 on July 25, 1041, two days before the defen dants were rounded up. In the film Duquesne pro duced an envelope from his sock, containing pictures of an airplane, gun and boat. Friedeman said that In this conversation Duquesne discuss ed military secrets he had stolen, instructed Sebold In the prep aration of minute incendiary bombs for dock fires and re vealed his intention to blow up the General Electric plant in Schenectady, N. Y. Spin Poorly Paid The federal bureau of investi gation intercepted most of the money sent here for German spies and doled out only small and infrequent sums to the com plaining underpaid spies, accord ing to evidence given at the trial today. Sebold. who was commission ed by the German Gestapo to conduct its espionage here and who invited the FBI to collab orate on the assignment, testi fied that Duquesne complained often about poor pay. Mean while he said the money was piling up in his bank account and Hamburg was wondering how to send even larger sums to appease the grumbling Gestapo agents. , Of $22,000 received by Sebold, more than $13,000 still is on de posit, the witness testified. Sebold, whose counterespionage activities were directed by the FBI, said he had paid Duquesne only about $650 for 18 months intensive work, while other de fendants were paid even less. This was brought out in cross- examination by Frank J. Wans. Duquesne's counsel. Sebold testified that In Febru ary, 1941, five months before announcement of the occupation of Iceland, Duquesne had ad vised him that 30,000 American soldiers and 4,000 officers would leave for Greenland and Ice land. He added that Duquesne sent to Germany a new Ameri can gas mask diaphragm and what purported to be a model of a new type of ship. LOAN FOR PLANES Washington, Sept. 18. JP A loan of $15,000 to Louis Soukup of Eugene, to purchase two training planes in connec- tion with the defense program has been authorized by the re construction finance corporation. advice and instruction on air raid precautions, left hero Wed nesday by United Mainliner for Los Angeles. Mr. Scott came here by pri vate plane from Bend where he addressed and instructed the annual convention of the Oregon State Fire Chiefs association. He was flown to Medford in a Piper Cub plane by Thomas Steven son, a state policeman and Phil Gould. His next assignment was the Mainliner: "The people of England would rather die than see their soil desecrated by the Nazis, every man, woman and kid of us." Mr. Scott said he has been in about 100 bombings and has had 21 months of actual experience in air raids. His specific Job. he related, is the dangerous task of disposing of unexploded delayed action bombs. His home town of Eastborne has suffered the de struction of 5,000 houses by bombs, he said, adding that the city was 8 minutes by air from Nazi bases.
