Wednesday at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Capt. S. M. Tut- tie, chairman, will preside. At Fort Mason William L. Pritchard, clerk at the former CCC headquarters detachment here, left Saturday for San i Francisco to enter the employ j of the quartermaster depot at Fort Mason. DeMolay To Meet DeMolay lodge will meet Wednesday at 8 p. m. at the Masonic temple with Master Councilor Donald Wood presiding during the busi ness session. Organization of activities for the coming term will be discussed. A social hour will close the meeting. Visit Here Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Cady of 44 North Orange street, had as their guests over the week-end their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Robinson, and their daugh ter, Joan Robinson, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Robinson, son and daughter-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. ' L. F. Robinson, all of Pasadena, Cal. Mr. Cady, who has been 111 at his home, especially en Joyed the visit of his relatives. Fire Damage Fire early last evening damaged a chair, a drape and a windowsill in the home of Herbert O. Hussong, 332 North Ivy street. Firemen attributed the blaze to a ciga rette. Firemen late Saturday night answered a ward alarm unon receiving a call that there was a fire in the Piggly Wiggly company store, 528 South River- ride avenue. The store, how ever, was .merely being fumi sated. a passerby thinking he saw smoke in the building, firemen reported. SnHh From North Mr. and Mrs. Howard Benjamin of Omak, Wash., and Gilbert D. Brown of Wenatchee, Wash., are guests at the residence of Miss Isabel Evans, 518 South Oakdale avenue, daughter of Mrs. Benjamin. The visitors j-rrived by motorcar Saturday and will remain about two weeks. Mr. Brown, retired U. S. forest service officer, was for merly supervisor of the Wenat chee national forest. Miss Evans, a clerk at Rogue River national forest, formerly was employed at Wenatchee . national forest headquarters. To Plan Traffic The newly eppointed parking committee of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce will be at the cham ber's office at 7:30 tonight to begin plans for handling park ing and auto traffic In general when and if the proposed army cantonment is established here. Internal revenue agent, Erie M. Gray, deputy collector of U. S. internal rev enue, and E. P. Leavitt, super intendent, Thomas C. Parker, assistant superintendent, and J. Corlisle Crouch, chief ranger, all of Crater Lake national park, attended the quarterly luncheon-meeting of the Southern Oregon Federal Business asso ciation Saturday at the Oregon Caves. Mr. Harding was accom panied by Mrs. Harding and Mr. Gray by Mrs. Gray and their son Donald. Mr. Harding, presi dent, presided. The next meet ing will be held in Klamath Falls December 9. Bunch and son Danny of San Jose, Cal., arrived today by train for a 10-day visit with Mrs. Bunch's mother, Mrs. E. N. Warner, 654 Palm street. Mrs. Bunch was Ruth Warner before her marriage. Recruiter Travels Sgt. Anderson of Port land arrived Saturday for a brief visit with relatives and fiiends here Mr. Anderson, formerly manager of Safeway Stores in Medford, has been supervisor of stores for Safeway in Portland for the past several years. Minor Accidents Harold L. Boen of Gold Hill and Lloyd E. Kircher of 315 Haven street drove cars involved in a minor accident nine miles north of Medford on the Pacific highway yesterday morning, a report on file said today Machines oper ated by A. J. Gaskill, adjutant, and E. P. Harmon, quartermaster of the Vancouver Harracks CCC district which on September 1 absorbed part of the Medford district, were at former headquarters here today checking over various matters und arranging for the evacua tion of property and the closing and transfer of records to Van couver Barracks, Wash. They arTived yesterday morning by train and planned to return north tonight. Punished Fay H. Mudge, 53, and Levy Y. Morris, 47, both charged with drunkenness, were sentenced to five days in jail by City Judge William Allen this morning. Harry L. Morgan, charged with the same offense, was fined $10. Coursalle Felix 31, also charged with drunken ness, was given a $10 fine or five days In jail suspended, and Alfred B. Davis, 33, on a drunk enness charge, was given a five day suspended jail sentence. Joseph J. White, charged with drunkenness, was "floated" out of town. e McBe Returns Capt. Wel don H. McBee, company officer of Company A, 186th infantry at Fort Lewis Wash., returned to his post this morning after a fortnight's stay here. He was ac companied by Clifford O. Love joy, operator of Mode O'Day stores here and in a number of other cities, who recently was called Into active service as a first lieutenant with the quar termaster corps at Fort Lewis. Capt. McBee was summoned home when his sister, Mrs. Al bert R. Ebel Grateful In a letter to Medford American Legion post officers today, Robert R. Ebel 620 South Oakdale avenue, ex pressed his appreciation of the preetings sent him by the Le gionnaires and auxiliary mem bers from their first joint dinner of the new season last week. Mr. Ebel, who has been receive ing treatment at the Veterans hospital in Portland for some time, wrote that he was making good progress toward recovery He has been an active member of the Medford post, shoulder ing much of the responsibility t in recent years for the Beaver Boys State and the junior base ball programs. Clifton, subsistence officer of the Med ford CCC district, now dis banded, has received appoint ment as chief clerk to the quartermaster at Fort Ord, Cal., and Is to report for duty Sep tember 18, it was stated at former district headquarters to day. Mr. Clifton and his family reside in Ashland. His family will join Mr. Clifton at Fort Ord later. e Fiscal Meeting A reminder was Issued today to officials. finance officers and budget committees of all local govern mental units of Jackson and Josephine counties to attend the meeting to be held for them in the Jackson county courthouse auditorium at 7:30 p. m. tomor row. M D. Wells, secretary treasurer of the state board of accountancy, will conduct the meeting. Sponsored by the Ore gon Finance Officers' associa tion, the meeting is one of a series around the state designed to expound the latest budget procedures, the new fiscal year and the compulsory audit law. Ralph Sweeney, Jackson county treasurer, is in charge of local arrangements. TWO PlEADGUILTY; AWAIT SENTENCES Russell W. Perisho entered a plea of guilty to theft of an auto and Daniel Patch pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor before Circuit Judge Herbert K. Hanna in circuit court today. Passing of sentence upon both was deferred until their past records, if any could be ob tained. Perisho, Is a two-time deserter from the army, according to District Attorney Geirge W. Neilson, and has state he does not want to return, p. ig prison. While serving a jy sentence in the county jail and acting as a trusty, Perisho walked away, to be arrested later on the auto stealing charge Patch is accused with another man of taking two minor girls of this city on a trip Into Cali fornia by auto. The maidens returned after a week. One of them Is held In the woman's ward of the county jail as a material witness. The other man involved is still at large. FLEES WITH $400 Bend, Ore.. Sept. 15 (P) A man who concealed his features with tape robbed Monda Matich, Bend theatre cashier, of $400 last night threatened another employe with a gun and escaped. Miss Matich was held up as she entered the office to place the nights receipts In the safe. John Anderson, projectionist, was threatened with the pistol. Police Chief Everett Rambo said only a meager description of the man wai obtained. CCC ROLL HOMEWARD Redmond, Ore., Sept. 15 JP) One hundred and seventeen CCC enrollees from West Vir ginia and Kentucky rolled home ward today on a troop train. The youths worked on the Deschutes project at Camps Red mond and Wikiup. Lieut. George F. Block, commander, said their return left the camps greatly depleted. Manufacturers will be per mitted to produce only 204,848 passenger cars in December, compared with 396,823 In De cember, 1940, it was made known at a meeting of Leon Henderson, director of OPM's civilian supply division, with the automotive defense industry advisory committee. The new curtailment means an overall decrease of 32 2 per cent in the first five months of the model year which began August 1, 1941. Production for this five months' period will be 1,123,217 cars, compared with 1,510,167 for the same period of 1940. The December curtailment will be heaviest against the "big three" General Motors, Chrys ler and Ford amounting to an average of 51.5 per cent for these large companies. The re duction is only 15.3 per cent for the other companies, Stude baker, Hudson, Nash, Packard, Willys-Overland and Crosley. G. P. AUTO THEFT A youth who gave his name as Fred Dale Miles, 16, of Butte, Mon., was being held here today for return to Grants Pass after he was arrested by state police yesterday afternoon near Phoe nix in a car stolen earlier in the day at Grants Pass. The ma chine, a 1937 Chevrolet sedan, is owned by F. H. Popken of Grants Pass. Another man In the automo bile escaped when the car was stopped by state police on the Pacific highway. Miles and his crT.panion, police said, leaped out of the car and started run ring. Miles was caught after a short chase, but the other man, running in the opposite direc tion, got away by racing across the railroad tracks and disap pearing into an orchard. ARGENlfOUSTS Buenos Aires, Sept. 15 VP) The Argentine congress today demanded the expulsion of Ger man ambassador Edmund von Thermann within three days for "abuse" of diplomatic privileges. The ouster resolution was ad dressed to the executive branch of the government for action im nudiutely. It was the outgrowth of an Investigation by the Argentine congressional "Dies committee" which reported uncovering doc umentary evidence that the am bassador was principal leader or subversive organizations of the Nazi stripe. Meanwhile, the committee'! detectives kept close watch on the movements of Capt.
