It was gathering place In the days of the fur traders and the mountain men. It was among the earliest of the West ern army posts. It was an im portant railhead when the Un ion Pacific was being built. For long, long years it was, and still is, the capital of a great cattle empire. Cheyenne is no raw, new set tlement. CHEYENNE has a culture that is Decullarly its own. This culture is a mending oi the fur trade, of nearly a cen tury of close, home-town asso ciation with army officers and irmv men. of its dealings witn railroad men, beginning wim those who built the U. For ex ample: If the cattle man can't profitably sell his animal wnen they are two-year-olds, he hoi is them over until they are threes (if he has grass and credit). If he can't afford to sell wnen they are threes, he hold them until they are fours. And o on.
