Meeting Sunday Postmasters of Jackson and 'Josephine coun ties will meet Sunday at the Prospect resort, guests of Mrs. Mary Grieve, postmistress of Prospect. The program includes a business meeting, short talks and dinner. Home The Rev. and Mrs. H. Young and family returned to their home, 10 Portland avenue, by motor yesterday after a two weeks' vacation in Redding and southern California cities. The Rev. Mr. Young is pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran church in this city. - Returns South Dr. Francis M. Neff left for Long Beach. Cal., Monday night after a short visit with relatives and friends here. From here Dr. Neff made a trip to Bellingham, Wash where he and his mother. Mrs. Jfc. F. Neff of 217 West Second street, visited two of Mrs. Neff's brothers. New Instructor Andrei L. Isotoff has been employed to teach geography, geology and physical science during the fall quarter at the Southern Oregon College of Education, Ashland, Dr. Walter Redford. president, announced today. Mr. Isotoff will replace R. W. McNeal, who is on leave. Mr. Isotoff, born in Leningrad, received his early education in Russia. He has at tended the University of South ern California, the University of Nevada and the University of Oregon, receiving his bachelor of science degree from the Uni versity of Oregon in 1941. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, national honorary fraternity. College Inovation For the first time in the history of the Southern Oregon College of Education, Ashland, students may register for six hours of credit or less at a total cost considerably less than the regu lar tuition and fees, it was announced today. It was em phasized, however, that students taking this work are not entitled to health service or gym suit service privileges which will be available to part-time students only on payment of the regular service fee. . Teachers To Meet All men and women who are to teach this year In Jackson county pub lic schools outside of Ashland and Medford will meet at 10 a. m. tomorrow in the Jackson county courthouse auditorium. Called by C. R. Bowman, super intendent, the meeting will be divided into two sessions, the first to be devoted to the admin istrative phase of the school program and the second, at 11 a. m., to classroom procedure. Material will be distributed and information given regarding plans for the 1941-42 term, Mr. Bowman said. 11 Enlisted Sgt. Joseph W. Cushman, local regular army recruiter, said today that 11 men in all were enlisted In the regular army for three years ' from Medford and vicinity in August. They were William E. Alson of company L, 30th Infantry, appeared at a draft board headquarters today and said he wanted to join the army or, to be more specific, to rejoin it. He explained state police asked him to drop out of any army caravan bound for Klam ath Falls yesterday to help them direct traffic at an Intersection while they went to the scene of a wreck. By the time the state police relieved him, the army was roll ing away in the distance The draft board provided him with transportation to Klamath Falls to rejoin his company. Wash., plant, agree to a conference to negotiate a contract. The move indicated a possible jurisdictional dispute there, since a union shop versus open shop issue between AFL work ers and the management was re ferred to the national defense mediation board only a few days ago. . The CIO'S request, signed by Richard Francis, Washington CIO director; William Dalrym pie, Oregon CIO director, and John Whitson, Aluminum Work ers of America representative, stated: . . . We feel that we have a sufficient number of members working within your plant to de mand a contract. "Therefore, speaking as the direct representatives of those employes who are members of the Aluminum Workers of America and those who through Intimidation have failed to sign up but who desire this organiza tion to represent them, we ask for an early conference . . ."
