Har ris of 416 South Central avenue spent the week-end in Roseburg visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Harris. Conf art Don B. Slawson, project superintendent at Camp Williams Creek, conferred at Medford CCC headquarters yes terday. From Arlsona Mrs. Ivan Crawford of Kingman, Arir., arrived here today by train for a visit at the home of her mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Craw ford of Phoenix. Arrive! Mrs. Clyde Walker "arrived today by train from Fort Madison, la., for a week's visit with her sister-in-law and nephew, Mrs. Violet Rudy and Robert Rudy, 433 North Bart lett street. Visits Relatives Mrs. Frances Dempster of Hollywood, Cal., arrived by train today for a two week's vacation with her f mother, Mrs. George Fraley, and her aunt, Mrs. Frank James, both of Route 2. To Return Home Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ramstrom and daugh ter, Karen, of Eugene are plan ning to return home tomorrow after a visit at the home of Mr. Ramstrom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Ramstrom of Beall lane. They arrived Friday. At Caves Medford visitors at the Oregon Caves resort Sun day were Miss Mary Mathes, Miss Joyce Freed and Miss Mary Yuding and Miss Marguerite Johnson of St. Helens, guest of Miss Mathes. At Headquarters William R. Parker, former educational ad viser at Camp McKinley, called at CCC headquarters here this morning. Father F. J. De schenes, CCC chaplain, was also an official caller at headquar ters this morning. To Repair Mrs. Jane Shults of 412 North Grape street ap plied at the city building in spector's office today for a per mit to repair fire damage to the residence she owns at 420 North Grape street at a stated cost of $500. Duty Continued Army or- ders issued at Portland con tinue active army duty for MaJ. Terry H. Holberton, the Associated Press reported. Maj. Holberton, a reserve officer, was formerly orchard superin tendent at Hillcrest orchards here. He was active in Rogue River chapter of the Reserve Officers association. His station is Fort Lewis, Wash. Plane Passengers Arriving by United Mainliner this noon were C. Huson from Sacramen to, Cal., and G. Webb, from Oakland, Cal. Miss C. Canfield left for Portland on the same plane. Arriving this forenoon were B. Marquess, from Port land, and D. Gurtert, from Se attle. Arriving from Los An geles early this morning were Mrs. J. The car was described as being dark green. Ex-Retidents Here Mr. and Mrs. William Miller of Detroit, Mich., Medford residents 28 years ago, spent yesterday here as guests of Mr. and Mrs. Nel son J. Wiley of 403 West Jack son boulevard. The Millers, on a vacation trip, came here from Portland where they visited their son, Aubrey Miller. They left last night for Sacramento, Cal., whence they were to pro ceed to Reno and home. When they resided here the Millers were next-door neighbors of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley. S25 Fine Chester E. Hale, 52, of Route 2 was fined $25 in city police court this morn ing after pleading guilty to a charge of reckless driving fol lowing an accident yesterday afternoon between his machine and one operated by Joseph J. Soares of Hornbrook, Cal. Hale, police said, also agreed to pay for the damage to the Soares automobile. Edwin R. Hughes of 709 North Riverside avenue and Ivan R. Myers of Central Point drove cars involved in a slight mishap on North River side avenue between Main and Sixth streets yesterday after noon, a report on file said today. e Once Lived Here Clyde Walk er, writer of yesterday's Mail Tribune story of life in Hermis ton under boom conditions, was employed as a lookout and a recreation guard by Rogue River national forest at Lake o' Woods for several seasons up to last fall. He was a forestry student at Oregon State college, taking a minor in publicity work. He turned to newspaper work and is now employed by the Pendle ton East Oregonian. His vivid story of Hermiston under the boom of defense work created considerable interest in Med ford, which is faced with simi lar problems of sudden popula tion growth should the proposed Beagle-Antelope cantonment be authorized, though advance plan ning is being done here.
