Tengwald of Kings highway was today reported recupera ting satisfactorily in Sacred Heart hospital. She underwent an operation a week ago. Visiting Wanda Shulmire of Klamath Falls is spending a week's visit with Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Mann of Shady Cove. Last week-end, Clifford Mann, a sailor on the U. S. S. Fanning, visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mann. 1 Back From Trip Mr. and ' Mrs. A. P. Butler and children Bob and Ann, 28 Hillcrest road, returned home last night from San Francisco. Mrs. Butler and the children have been visiting in the east where they took de livery of a new car. Mr. Butler left Medford for San Francisco last Wednesday. Forester Here Lawrence D. Pagter, division of timber man' agement at the U. S. regional forester's office at Portland, conferred today with Karl L. Janouch, supervisor of Rogue River national forest. Mr. Pag ter planned to remain here all week working on timber man agement plans, his schedule in eluding work in the field. He ar rived here last night. Many At Lake Fifty Junior Police of Klamath Falls yester day established a week's camp at Lake O' Woods, Rogue River national forest headquarters said today. Thirty-seven chaper oned students of the Southern Oregon College of Education Ashland, spent the week-end at the lake, headquarters stated. A check-up today showed that the forest campground at the lake was used by 350 campers over the week-end, 27S picnickers yesterday. Some one yesterday left a box of apricots at the camp and the fruit was distributed among the men, but there was no name on the box, Wright said in express ing the group's appreciation of the gift. The nine planes the group has based at Medford municipal air port go through maneuvers from S to noon each day excepting Saturday and Sunday, Wright said in case residents wanted to go to the airport to watch. The rest of the time the planes are stored at the airport, where they may be seen. OF P A conference of federal, state. army, county and municipal representatives in the Jackson county courthouse auditorium today reviewed tentative plans for handling the mnny problems that would be created 1 the pro posed Medford cantonment is constructed. The conference, be gun this morning, continued this afternoon. All phases of advance planning were discussed. Coming here for the confer ence were C. E. Stewart, senior engineer, works progress admin istration, Seattle, Wash., Maj. R. F, Bessie, counsellor, national resources planning board, north west planning commission; R. A. Scott, field auditor representing Ormond Bean, state public utili ties commissioner; Harry Dev ereaux, airport engineer, WPA, Portland; Lester A. Wilcox, state department of education; and Don T. Orput, recreational field representative of the fed eral security administration for Oregon. Also attending were Capt. Theron W. Bean, constructing quartermaster, H. H. Barter, from the cantonment architect's office, and Frank Hull, repre senting Jerry Owen, coordi nator of the state defense coun cil. Cities, school districts, water boards and other Jackson county political subdivisions were rep resented, as well as the county itself. The municipal hospital in Ashland and the Community hospital here were also repre sented, as was the county school superintendent s office.
