ministration prophecy of "gaso
linelpss Sundays" comes true,
the Sunday motorist may sit at
home and score the Georgia gen
eral assembly.
The so-called eastern gasoline
shortage is not a shortage of
production but solely of trans
portation facilities. Adequate
pipeline facilities would cure it,
according to the administration
officials and petroleum experts.
And Georgia lies athwart the
natural path of these pipelines.
Southeastern railroads argue
construction of these pipelines
would cripple them. So when oil
interests sought permission from
the assembly to lay trans-Georgia
lines, the railroads massed
their strength in opposition.
The railroads were successful
despite pleas for passage of the
bills from President Roosevelt
and cabinet mem'?rs.

majority of Georgia's 159 coun
