Final plans have been com
pleted for the fourth annual
Wooden Box ball to be held Sat
urday evening at the Oriental
Gardens. Steve Whipple and his
orchestra will furnish music
with Aretha Roberts and Nor
bert Miksche as vocalists.
James Boyle, chairman, an
nounced today that the advance
ticket sale has been so success
ful that the committee has felt
it advisable to take over the
smaller ballroom at the Gardens
also In order to handle the large
crowd. Another orchestra has
been secured and all types of
dancing, old and new, will be
enjoyed, Mr. Boyle stated.

FOREST SERVICE
OFFICIALS MEET
Forest service officials of the
Umpqua. Siskiyou and Rogue
River National Forests were
meeting In the local offices of
the latter forest service this
afternoon for the purpose of
discussing possible emergency
fire conditions.
The meeting was called by C.
Otto Lind, in charge of forest
fire control at the regional of
fice In Portland. Also attending
the meeting were L. Colville of
the Siskiyou National Forest and
R. Hampton of the Umpqua Na
tional Forest.

machinists and returned to work in San Francisco bay area shipyards. There was no vio
lence. First oi some 500 men. who went through the picket line at the Moore Drydock

Alfredo Guzzoni was dropped
today as vice chief of the Ital
ian general staff and undersec
retary of war.
A communique said Division
General Anthonio Scuero, gen
eral superintendent of the Ital
ian army in Albania, had re
placed him as undersecretary of
war and that the general staff
Job had been eliminated.
No reason was given for the
change, the communique saying
merely that Premier Mussolini
had written Guzzoni a letter
thanking him for his services in
the two Jobs.
