Sept. 19. Spl. Southern Oregon College of Ed ucation today issued the follow ing information regarding the third primary course in the government-sponsored civilian pilot training program: A class of 20 students will be enrolled subject to official ap proval at Washington. No alter nates will be allowed. To be eli gible students must be Ameri can citizens 19 to 26 years old and able to pass the required physical examination. At least one year of college work Is re quired. Girls at least 62 inches tall and weighing at least 100 pounds will be accepted pro vided they can meet all the oth er requirements. Not more than 10 per cent of the class may be girls. Credits Allowed College credit of six hours will be allowed for the course. Certain fees must be paid in addition to the regular college fees. Pilot students must be ful ly matriculated college students carrying at least eight hours of class work in addition to aero nautics. The ground work requires several hours of class attendance at the college nrh wp'pIc durine the fall and winter terms. Ground instruc tion will begin as soon after September 23 as practicable. Flieht training is scheduled to start soon after November 1 and will be completed not later than January 3. Two previous primary pilot training courses have been con ducted here, the first compris ing ten and the second 30 stu dents. The second class com pleted its work this week, 28 finishing the court. SEEK APPLICANTS F0RP.0.1ITRESS Application forms for the U. S. civil service examination for charwoman at Medford postof fice were today in the hands of Earl H. York, postal clerk and secretary of the local board of civil service examiners. Women interested in the position were asked to call at the postoffice and procure the forms without delay as applications must be on file with the civil service of fice in Seattle, Wash., not later than September 24. only five days hence. There is a vacancy at the post- office here that must be filled immediately. The work of char woman involves cleaning, dust ing, sweeping, etc., and the pay is 50 cents an hour for the hours of actual work. DRESCHER TO HEALTH MEET Portland. Ore., Sept. 19. (IP) Fred H. Reese, manager of the port traffic development bureau here, declared today that export fruit had disappeared almost 100 per cent. Yakima exporters who ordi narily poured thousands of boxes of fresh apples and pears into holds of refrigerator steamers here for delivery in Europe have no hope of shipping fruit abroad this season, he said. He asserted on a recent visit to Yakima he found only two cars of fresh pears booked for early shipment to England and both will move east by rail for shipment on a Belgian steamer- "Brokers who ordinarily do a big fruit business with Europe are not even spending money on cables this season," he said. SEEK KIDNAPER OF 'LOST' BABY Connellsville, Pa., Sept. 19.- (JP) While a youthful farming couple rejoiced today on their 13th wedding anniversary ov er the safe return of their "baby" son after his strange dis appearance four days ago, state police gravely decided it was a case of abduction and set out to find the kidnaper. Sergeant Harry C. Johnson said he believed two-year-old Ronald Rumbaugh had been "placed" in a cornfield where an airplane pilot spotted him yesterday afternoon. In movie- thriller fashion, the pilot flew two miles to the Rumbaugh homestead, yelled to the boy's father and others, and guided them quickly to the scene, thus ending an ever-widening search in which several dozen police and hundreds of volunteers had participated.
