Because of the national de fense procram there is an urgent demand for instructors in the air corps technical school of the war department, the U. S. civil service commission said today in announcing a number of ex aminations. The examinations announced were: ' Instructor, air corps technical school, $3,800 a year; associate instructor. $3100 a year; assist ant instructor. $2600 a year: and junior instructor, $2000 a year. Other examinations were an nounced for the following posi tions: Senior and Junior stenograph er and senior and junior typist, for men only, to fill vacancies in the field service in OrcRon. Idaho, Montana and Washing ton. Personnel technician. In vari ous grades with salaries ranging from $4(100 a year to $2000 a year. These as signments offer part-time work experience for eligible young men and woman in clerical and stenographic work and in shop work, sheet metal work, weld- j ing, carpentry, cabinet making, drafting and surveying for . young men. Mechanical and clerical apti tude tests are given to appli cants as a basis of selection for ossignment. Exclusive of compensated hours, all appli cants are required to engage in regular classes of training re lated to project work. By per iodic aptitude tests applicants must show constant improve ment in associated occupational skills. Should Register Unmarried persons, age 17 to 24 inclusive, who are in need of employment, w o r k-exper-ience or training, are eligible to register, provided they are United States citizens. Prelim inary steps of NYA registration can be completed at the Oregon state employment office in the Holland Hotel building, after, which the applicant will be re-, ferred to the NYA area office in the Jackson county court house, for aptitude test appoint ments. Rural youths can make preliminary application by mail, directed to the NYA area of fice. Full Tim Available Full-time assignmnts to NYA resident projects are available to youths who are interested in a more intensified work-training program away from home, under supervised living condi tions, where the worker earns enough to provide subsistence, medical care, and tuition, with a reasonable amount for per sonal expenditures. Young men who desire to at tend the Eugene Vocational school and who are interested in cooking, commercial design ing, auto mechanics, aviation mechanics, radio or other tech nical courses should make ap plication now for fall term assignment.
