The land of their adoption. James Y. Sakamoto, editor of the Japanese-American courier of Seattle told them, "must be revered above all others . . . we are Americans and proud of it." Fifty chapters of the league, composed of Japanese who are now American citizens, were represented. Those who thrilled to last year's "Jesse James," will find "The Return of Frank James," which opened yesterday at the Craterian theatre, even more colorful and action -packed. Filmed in spectacular Techni color, the exciting climax to the exploits of the Jamea Brothers is one of the few pictures that can truthfully be called greater than its predecessor. The cast has many of the characters from the first pic ture, with Henry Fonda shown as Frank, Jesse's grim older brother. Others are Henry Hull, John Carradine, J. Edward Bromberg. Donald Meek and Gene Tirney, Jackie Cooper, Ed die Collins and George Barbier quite a cast! The story of "The Return of Frank James" is the story of Frank's determination to avenge the cowardly murder of his brother, Jesse, shot in the back by the traitorous Ford broth ers. Railroad money paid the Fords and political influence freed them after conviction, so Frank realizes the only way he can revenge Jesse ia to return to outlawry. Always maintaining a high pitch of excitement, the picture then follows Frank all over the lawless West, with stirring scenes of robbery, murder, gun- fights, man-hunts, train hold-ups, escape and pursuit. The picture's climax is tense and dramatic as Frank at long last comes face to face with Bob Ford. Henry Fonda Is, as might be expected, perfect in his role of Frank James. This fine actor has brought many outstanding i characterizations to the screen but has never been in betVr form. Much of the credit for the gripping entertainment the film offers belongs to Fonda with the other members of the cast deserving of praise also, Births PF'I'1 1 E PRCNFS now nady, 2o b SO-lb. lug delivered nyu-hr In TtlifT.
