Frank Holbrook returned by car this morning to their home at 1012 East Jackson boulevard. They had visited Mrs. Holbrook s mother in Longview, Wash. . Meeting Tonight Townsend club No. 2 will meet at 8 tonight in Townsend hall at 123'i West Main street. Officers said im portant business would be con sidered and urged all members to be present. Caragnaro Here Robert Ca vagnaro, head of Associated Press western division from San Francisco, arrived here this morning by train to spend sev eral days transacting business. He is staying at the Hotel Med- ford. Purse Stolen D. C. Goddard of Talent, federal fruit inspector, told city police that his daugh ter' purse containing $24 and her glasses was stolen out of his car parked in front of a packing company on South Fir street yes terday afternoon. Choir to Play Mrs. Harry Prentice's accordion choir will present a special musical pro gram at the church services in Medford city park Sunday eve ning at 5. The choir differs' from the accordion band in that I members have been trained es pecially to play choir music. Going North Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Moore and son, Jimmy, of 1029 East Jackson boulevard will leave by motorcar tomorrow for Portland where Mrs. Moore and Jimmy will spend a week or so as guests of her mother Mrs. E. Johnson, and sister, Mrs. Ruth Tickle. Mr. Moore will re turn to Medford after a week end visit. Sentenced James P. Murphy, 33, and Irvin C. Pool, 53, both charged with drunkenness, were sentenced to 10 days in city jail by City Judge Allen D. Curry yesterday. Appearing this morn ing on drunkenness charges, Ai mer Hobson, 63, and Charles Gallagher, 40, were ordered to leave town immediately or spend 10 days In Jail. They said they would leave. Home Burns Word was re ceived here today from Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gilbert of the recent burning of their home and all their possessions on the Snake river at the south gate of Yel lowstone national park where Mr. Gilbert is a ranger. Mrs. Gilbert and her two-year-old daughter, Judy, and a friend and her small child were alone in the two-apartment house when it started to burn. The two women were able to wake their sleep ing children and flee the burn ing place just in time. Every possession the family owned was destroyed. Mrs. Gilbert is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl ton Janes of Capitol Hill in Medford. The Gilberts have many friends here who will be sorry to learn of their loss. Thev are now residing at Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone park headquarters. ' New Forester Vernon E. Hicks. junior forester in the U. S. forest service, arrived here yesterday to take up his new position on the Rogue River na tional forest, having been trans ferred from the Olympic national forest at Olympia, Wash. Mr Hicks went immediately to Butte Falls, where he will be in charge of the Medford Corporation tim ber sale. He was added to the forest service staff here because of increased timber sale activity. Mrs. Hicks and their two chil dren will come to Medford in a couple of weeks. The family will reside in Medford. Bull Arrives Arriving on this morning's train by express was a young registered Guern sey bull which is to become Jun ior herd sire at the Elliott farm. The bull was raised by Valley Pride farm of Burlington. Wash. His dam. Nightingale Chicona, is from the "N" family of the A. L. Gile breading of Chicona farm. She was sold to C. A. Fer rin of Ogden, Utah. The new bull's sire is Chicona Bayard, , an inbred bull and a Gile double grandson of Traveler Bayard, whose dam was Butternut of Chicona. Langwater Traveler also shows in the sireship. The butterfat record on both sides runs from 700 to 800. Among those at the train to meet the bull were L. E. Francis, 4-H club agent, Ralph Van Zyl and Dr. B. R. Elliott. .... Minor Accidents Cars driven by Bob Ivie of 427 North River side avenue and John Lyons of Route 4 were involved in a slight mishap on the Pacific highway near- the fairgrounds this morning, a report stated. Mrs. R. E. Wilson of Jacksonville and Henry Anning of 517 West ern avenue operated vehicles in involved in an accident on West Main street Thursday afternoon, according to a report today. Lee P. Bishop of 1612 West Main street and C. M. Golden of Eu gene drove machines involved in a slight mishap at Sixth and Front streets Thursday after noon, a report on file said today. George W. Roberts of Dunsmuir, Calif., and Ralph Hayman of Medford operated autos collid ing with slight damage on East Main street Thursday afternoon, a report on file stated today. ... Plane Passengers A. Ander son left by United Mainliner this noon for Seattle. Master Buddy and Baby Jimmy Bishop returned home from Portland on the forenoon Mainliner. Miss Pauline 'Crfamplin and her bro ther Charles Champlin left on the forenoon plane for San Francisco. J. Flurry arrived from Portland on the midnight Mainliner and Martin Colby de parted for San Francisco. Ar rivals last night were A. Wil moV, from San Francisco, and Mrs. M. Clegg, Mrs. D. Clegg and T. Clegg, from Oakland. Departing were H. Dorman and Vic Vettle. to Portland. Miss Betty Long and S. Sackett de parted for San Francisco last evening. A bad fracture of the left leg just below the knee was suffered by John B. Dallaire, Jr.. 22, of route 2, box 338-A shortly before 5:30 p. m. Thursday when the bicycle he was riding was struck by an automobile operated by Mrs. Gladys Smith of 132 Van couver avenue at West Main and Holly streets. Dallaire was resting as well as could be expected in Sacred Heart hospital today, his attend ing physician said. The doctor, himself, was one of the first per sons at the scene of the accident, and rushed the injured youth to the hospital. An investigating city police man said that Mrs. Smith, driv ing south on Holly street, had stopped at the stop street and had reached the center of the intersection when her car struck the bicycle, moving west on Main street. The officer quoted Mrs. Smith as saying that she saw the bicycle "quite a distance away" from her and that it sud denly ran right in front of her car. She said she was traveling very slowly when the accident occurred. Police explained that Dal laire's left leg went through the frame of the bicycle at the time of impact, and that in falling his leg was doubled under him causing the break. to continue to Portland this afternoon, extending his inspec tion tour to northwest airports. After lunch he was taken on a motor tour to several points of interest hereabouts. Other military arrivals today were Lieut. C. S. MasFarlane, McChord field, Wash., to Ham ilton field, Cal., in a Northrup attack plane, and Lieut. W. L. Ronald Colman and Jane Wyatt head the cast of "Lost Horizon," which opens the Cool Rialto Theatre's gala "Frank Capra Week." starting Sunday at the popular Main street show house. In a setting of idyllic splendor, representing the la masery of Shangi-La, the famous stars with dozens of other big star names, set out to find a true "Utopia" and the result has become one of the pet phrases of the nation. Their story Is part of the strange Odys sey described by James Hilton in his prize-winning novel, which is one of the most masterful di rectorial achievements of Holly wood's sensational director, Frank Capra. "Lost Horizon" will play at the Rialto Theatre Sunday and Monday. Others in the cast in clude Thomas Mitchell. Edward Everett Horton, Margo, John Howard and H. B. Warner.
