Hm-m looks like a clash of opinion. But Standard has helped make both right. www In his day the author of "Huckleberry Finn" was correct enough. Petroleum was satisfied to furnish kerosene for oil lamps. It had not yet taken off its coat and made possible such jobs as moving the weather. It didn't know its own strength, www Even today vast projects like Central Valley, Grand Coulee, Bonneville and Boulder Dam would remain on the dreamy tide but for oil-driven trucks, bulldozers, shovels, locomo tives, cranes, tractors, concrete mixersall that husky family of ton-tossing equipment which can move itself as well as moun tains. w . In the development of better gasoline, better Diesel fuel, bet ter lubricants the "I-cannot-live-without-you"-s of these heavy duty- doers this Com pany has been a leader since Twain's time. Nearly as impor tant has been Standard's con tribution toward making these essentials widely available. Otherwise the West might be left to re-fashion its rivers, move its rains, re-Eden its endless acres by 20-mule team.
