Guests from Roseburg Mr. and Mrs. Kill Unrath and daugh ter. Mary Elise, of Roseburg are visiting at the horns of Mrs. Unrath's aunt, Mrs. Susan Eads, 29 Kenwood avenue. . At Springs Edward. Rita and Norman Kubll of Apple gate were among Sunday vis itors at Cinnabar Springs. Tht road to the resort is in good condition and "like a boule vard," Chris Kenney, manager, said today. Injured Sarah Ellis of 425 North Grape street Is confined in Community hospital as the result of a serious accident Sunday when she was thrown from a horse. She was report ed by hospital attendants to have had a pood night last night. j Father 111 Mrs. V. R. Bal lantyne of 822 West Tenth street left by plane today for Portland from where she will go to Hillsboro where her fath er, A. E. Brandaw, is seriously ill. Mr. Brandaw has visited in Medford frequently and has friends here who will be sorry to learn of his illness. Visiting Here Miss Margaret Dow of San Francisco arrived by motorcar this morning to spend a few days with rela tives heri. During her visit she will be guert of her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Beebe of Central Point, and her cousin, Miss Barbara Lee Koehler of 610 King street. Firemen's Picnic Medford's volunteer firemen and regulars off duty will hold their first annual picnic Sunday at Bybec Beach park on Rogue river at Bybee bridge. The men's fam ilies also will attend, between 50 and 00 persons being ex pected. The picnickers are to gather at the park at 1 p. m Swimming.a ball game and other diversions will precede the serving of the picnic lunch . Fri day and Saturday. Anyone in terested is invited to hear her, Have Baby Word was re ceived here today of the birth of a boy weighing eight pounds, three ounces, Sunday, to Mr. and Mrs. Ed Bennett in Grants Pass. The baby was named Edward Franklin, Jr. The baby's father is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Carl Bennett of 343 South Grape street, and Mrs. Bennett is the former Miss Bertha Finney, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Finney of 910 Stevens street. Nebraska Picnic The Ne braska Picnic association will hold, its 17th annual picnic at Avery park in Corvallis on Sunday, August 4. All Ne-l braskans tire invited. Each 1 to bring his own picnic lunch and service. Free coffee will be provided. A program of entertainment will be pnsented. Last year 2500 former Nebras kans attended the picnic. Avery park is situated on highway 99-W about a quarter ni:le south of Corvallis. Signs mark the way. Dakota Picnic The annual North and South Dakota picnic will be held in the upper part of Lithia park in Ashland on Sunday. July 28. All former residents of the Dakotas are invited to attand. Each famii' will provide its own picnic lunch. Cofftv, iced tea and lemonade will be furnished free. The picnic will start at noon. Alexander's guitar band will provide music. The pro gram Includes various games and races, a tug-of-war between the two states, impromptu talks and vocal and Instrumental music. Members will go to the home of Mn Wayne Keesee, 28 South Peach street, for a lawn party after lodge session. Place Change! His feat of remembering the names of all the Lions after hearing them on ly once slipped a cog when it came to Henry Zachariscn and this added to the club's enjoy ment of the young colonel's pro gram. Major is a publicity rep resentative of the Union Oil company. Earl Sims presented to his fel low clubmen the trophy won by the Medford Lions bowling team at the first annual Lions Red wood Empire tournament at Eu reka, Cal., last month. A past president's pin was presented to Leland Knox, now district governor. The presenta tion, considered a signal honor, was made by Art Render, club president who presided. Marmie Oison was given a membership key for his work in procuring new members. Guests were Kenneth Parrett, L. C. Taylor, Fred P. King, Roy Pruitt, Robert Crutchfield and Earl' Rcitsma.
