During lecture hour Mr. Hag- gart of the Copco Safety Service gave an instructive talk and demonstration. At the next regular meeting. July 23, Jacksonville Grange will be guests and present the literary program. Home Economics club meets Wednesday, July 17 at the home of Mona Ferns with Ethel Carr co-hostess. Central Point Granga Women of the Central Point Grange are reminded to bring flowers for the flower show Fri day night. The flowers should be brought at the time of the meeting. The regular business meeting will be held at 8 p.m. in the Grange hall. The flower show will be held after the 'meetinu during lecture hour. A prize will be awarded for the best bouquet. Much interest has been evident and the flower show is expected to prove unusually interesting. All women members are invited to enter displays. MEN FOR DRAFT Ottawa, July 16 t-U.R) The government today announced regulations for the registration of Canadians over the age of 16 The registration tentatively Is scheduled for August 29 to 23. The only adults exempted are cloistered nuns, inmates of asy lums, penitentiaries and othei institutions designated by the chief registrar. For failing to register, a Can adian vill be liable to a fine of $200 and three months' im prisonment. In addition, he is liable to a fine of S10 for each day he remains unregistered after the stipulated date. Postpone Taxi Strike. Portland. July 16. P) The second postponement of a threatened Port lend taxlcab strike was granted by A.F.L. union drivers last night at the request of the Yellow Cab com pany. Tractor Crushes Driver. St. Helena, Ore., July 18. &) John DUlas, 29. was crush ed to death yesterday under a tractor. It overturned on a slopinii field. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Dallas of Pendleton, survive. (U.R) Mrs. Antonina Riasanovsky. mother of two children and winner of a $10,000 prize for her first novel, today decided to spend her money for health, education and a home for her little family of White Russian exiles Mrs. Rlasnovsky. who came to the United Slates only two years ajo, said she wanted to buy a home In Eugene, home of the University of Oregon, because she likes "a small town with a big library." , Story of Family, She just returned from Bos ton where she received her prize from the Atlantic Month ly Press and Little. Brown 4 Co., publishers. Her novel, "The Family," tells the story of an exiled White Russian fam- ily, similar to hers, who lived in Tientsin. She wrote the book under her maiden name of Nina Fe-1 dorova, because rhe I o u n d Americans had trouble with her other name. Mrs. Riasanovskv was gradu ated from the University of Petrogrcd as a philologist. After fleeing in the Russian revolu tion, she taught literature, his tory and psychology in Harbin, I I Manchuria. Two former seasonal park rangers at Cra ter Lake national park have reported for duty at Glacier nationul park in similar posi tions, Chief Ranger George W. Miller of Glacier national park, announced today. Walter E. Nitzel, who served from 1929 to 1933 at Crater lake, will be stationed at the Many Glacier camnground. He is employed during the winter seasons as principal of school district No. 69, Jackson county, Oregon. William Ray Henderson, who served at Crater lake from 1925 to 193S, will be stationed at the Two Medicine entrance to the park. He Is a teocher of the Medford schools. TRUCK DRIVERS GAIN 20 W M BOOST Portland, July 16. U.R Union drivers for 23 Oregon trucking companies were grant ed a 20-cent daily wage increase today In an arbitration decision handed down by Rev. father George Thompron of Maryl hurst collcg, the arbiter. The award, which Is retro active to Mirch 1, gives team ster members of A F.L. local 162 $6.49 a day for regular pickup and doliverymen for an eight-hour day, JO 45 for check ers and loaders; $6.20 for help ers and truckers and 85 cents an hour for extra men. British Exports Cited as Proof London. July 16. - (.T) In creased British export to the United State were cited today a proof that Britain is "not a beleaguered island. Sir Cecil Weir, chairman of the overseas committee of the association of British chambers of commerce said Scotch whiskey shipments doubled in May and carpets were up 60 per cent. Woolen goods, toys, fabrics and leather ware also increased.
