NAZI BATTLESHIP London, June 14. VP) The British admiralty announced to day that the naval air force scored a hit with a '"heavy bomb" on the battleship Scharn horst In Trondheim fjord early yesterday. One hit was said to have been made behind the . funnel of the 26.000-ton German bat tleship, and second possibly scored. The communique said: "Aircraft of the fleet air arm carried out an attack on Ger man naval units in Trondheim fjord early yesterday morning, j "Information has now been ' received that one hit abaft the funnel was. obtained with a heavy bomb on the battleship Scharnhorst. Mrs, Goodman, charged by Mrs. Sparkes with assault, said in court that she had bitten Marlene after the girl had bitten her son, Jackie, 4, on Ihe nose. Their Claim E FAVORS PLEA FOR TAX PAYMENT ON FEDERAL LAND AREAS Salem, June 14. (flV-A res olution asking that the .United States pay counties taxes on its forest and other lands was adopted today by the Oregon State Grange, which will end its five-day 67th annual con vention tonight. The Grange also favored a movement to increase federal forest fire-fighting funds, and It asked the Grange officers to make an investigation to deter mine the advisability of seeking legislation to make all county offices non-partisan. Other resolutions approved federal legislation to require proper labeling of woolen goods, advocated a proposed law pro viding for compulsory arbitra tion of labor disputes after a reasonable time for negotiations has expired but only if a per ishable crop is Involved, advo cated that producers be permit ted to sell direct to the Federal Surplus Commodities corpora tion, and asked that farmer owned cooperative telephone systems be exempt from taxa tion.
