MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON. WEDNESDAY. JUNE 12. 1940. PAGE FIVE v CONFLICT 11 13 MILES OF CITn GATES (Continued tram rmf Ml Paris spokesman, who cited terrific German assaults all along the western front from the lower (west) Seine to the Argonne forest. The Germans reported ad vances from SO to 70 miles to ward Paris "on many fronts" in the past six days of the ti tanic struggle. "Our offensive." it was said, "is going ahead of schedule." A report from the Nazi front said quick-firing German anti aircraft guns levelled off with an effective horizontal range of eight miles, had destroyed 200 Allied tanks. Italian Coast Bomber. Rome reported the first ene my assault on Italian soil since Premier Mussolini declared war Monday an unspecified attack on the Ligurian coast, where the great Italian shipping port of Genoa is situated. Earlier, London had reported a British bombing attack on northern Italy. Mussolini's fascist warriors meanwhile were reported mass ing along France's southern frontier, in the Maritime Alps. They were said to have been between 60 tnd 70 divisions about 600,000 to 1.050,000 men ready to hurl against the al ready beleaguered French. To the quickening beat of the war tempo, Italy was re ported to have handed an ulti matum to Egypt. The ancitnt kingdom of the Pharaohs, guardian of Britain's vital Suez canal, had been spe cifically exempted from Italy's war aims as pronounced by Premier Mussolini if it main tained Its neutrality. ante in spring lambs SS SO-SO, Ut ter top. medium-gooa as 0088. odd SO lb. 6T.0O-6O. tsw shorn jearlln IS.00-M. medium-goo shorn slaugh ter m 68008 00. 0 South Franfiat South su Francleco, June II IAP-U8DAI Hoga SO0. around JO htgher: loads 188-836 lb.
