FOR WAR RELIEF An appeal was Issued this morning by members of the War Relief committee for women of Medford and the valley to vol unteer as knitters and sewers of garments for refugees of war torn Europe. Women volunteering are ask. ed to get supplies at the Jackson County Red Cross office in the county courthouse at once. Everything necessary for con struction ot the garments may be obtained at the office and the actual work may be done else where if persons so desire. S. army bomber landed and took off successfully late yes terday afternoon at Medford municipal airport in an experi mental flight. It was the larg est airplane ever to land at the airport here. The plane did not tarry here and none of the prew deplaned. The giant bomber simply land ed, turned around after stop ping, taxied back to the end of the runway and took off again on its way south. The p'.ane left Portland, where it made the same experi mental landing, at 2:50 p. m and arrived here shortly after 4 p. m. Only ten men since George Wash ington have been general of the U.
