The affair paid tribute to the kindly couple whose many thoughtful daily deeds brought happiness to their friends resid ing in the court. Refreshments were served during the evening from a table centered with a large bouquet of magnolias brought from the gardens of Mrs. Margaret Fa brick. Other bouquets of spring blossoms decorated the room. Mrs. Jonas Wold presided at the tea table and refreshments were in charge of Mrs. E. C. Fer guson, Mrs. Elizabeth Bower man and her daughter, Miss Beth Bowerman and Mrs. John Norwood. During the party, the group presented the Engles with an attractive going-away gift. The couple expect to leave here Monday for the north where they will vacation for a short time. Their plans thereafter are indefinite. Janet Reter Is Feted at Party Miss Janet Rae Reter, bride elect of Marion Johnson, was feted at a shower party Tuesday evening when Miss Dorothy Cof fcen and Lorraine Swoape en tertained at the latter's home on North Riverside avenue. Games were enjoyed during the evening and the honoree re ceived numerous attractive gifts Refreshments were served to Shirley Enders, Melba Linn. Ash, Bob Kent, Orville Hayes, Jack Dooms and L. Lovell. Velma Singler won the attendance prize. Re freshments were served later in the evening by Lucille Anseth, Wilma Hayes, Laura Wicker, Helen Keesee, Leah Ivie. Mrs. Nellie Purdin and Esther Powell were in charge of cards. Group En joy st Weinie Roast The Misses Eleanor Lemlre and Liille Metterneck were hostesses for a weiner roast at Bybee's bridge Tuesday evening. Those present avere the Misses Rose Widmer, Ethci Bob- bett, Louise Lemire, Bernice Nary and Jeanette Metterneck, and Messrs. Leslie Corey, Les ter Wendt, Eddie Sakraida, Joe Doblemeier and Donald O'Brien. Mrs. H. E. Casey, Olive Le mire and !weU Dupray acted as chaperones. Games were played prior to the roast. Friday evening at St. Mark's Episcopal church. Guests included Mesdames William Bowerman, Otto J. Frohnmayer. George Harring ton, Norris Porter, Robert Sher wood, Charles Barnes. William A. Thompson and A. B. Drury, mother of the honoree. Also the Misses Clarita and Frances McCc-mick. Harriet Sparrow, Marian Moort and Jarvi Thompson. The bride-to-be received an abundance of canned goods as shower gifts. Bridge was played throughout the evening Willi Mrs. Bowerman and Miss Frances McCormick winning the prizes. Miss Young Attends Portland Wedding Miss Floy Young, Medford high school - music instructor. left last evening by plane for Portland where she will sing at the wedding of Miss Cather ine Campbell and Harry Camp bell. The ceremony will be solemnized Sunday in Grace Memorial church. Miss Young recently spent few days in Ashland visiting her mother, Mrs. C. R. Bow man. After the Portland wed ding. Miss Young plan to go to Seattle where she will re ceive voice instruction from Charles Lawrence, at the Uni versity of Washington. Later in the summer, the popular and talented Medford teacher plans to travel to Chi cago to work on her mister's degree in music education at Northwestern in Evanston, She is majoring in voice. 111. Elaine Brophy to graduate from U.W. Mr. ana Mrs. V. D. Brophy plan to leave tomorrow after noon by United Mainliner for Seattle, Wash., to attend com mencement at the University of Washington. Their daughter. Miss Elaine Brophy, will be among the graduates, receiving her degree from the school of science. Miss Brophy, a member of Chi Ome ga sorority, is one of the young est members of the graduating class. She will return by plane to Medford with her parents on Sunday to spend the summer in the valley. . Mrs. King Arrives For Visit Here Mrs. Maude King arrived in Medford this morning by train from San Francisco to visit her sons-in-law and daughters. Mr. and Mrs. Burton R. Nosier and Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Sands. The Noslers and Mrs. King plan to leave Medford about .lune IS for northern Oregon and Washington, visiting friends and relatives in Seattle. Spo kane, Tacoma and other cities. After vacationing in the north the group will travel to Long beach. Installation of new officers will take place. Miss Grace Chamberlain will give one of her inspiring talks on poetry during the affair. Mrs. Mabel Klem is the social chairman. Leflands Horn From Corvallls Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lofland and daughter, Helen, returned last evening to their home on South Oakdale avenue from Corvallis where they attended Oregon State college commence ment at which time their son, Adrian M.
