EXPECTS LEAVE
Termination of George E.
Patterson's tour of duty as s re
cruiter of the U. S. navy was
seen today in orders sending
Jack M. Carpenter, a chief elec
trician's mate now at San
Diego, Cal., to a recruiters'
training school for a six weeks'
course.
Mr. Patterson, a chief quar
termaster, has been in charge of
the Medford recruiting station
for Vh years. He will have
completed tnree years of re
cruiting duty in the Portland
district next September.
Mr. Patterson has received
no orders regarding his own
transfer but receipt here of a
copy of the orders for Carpen
ter was interpreted to mean
that Patterson's service as a re
cruiter was nearing its comple
tion. It was understood that
Carpenter would be added to
the staff of the officer in
charge of the Portland recruit
