CLAfcA MAIY DA7U Med ford Couple Fly to Nevada for Wedding Today An airplane romance wai to culminate In marriage today for Mlaa Florence Scherrer. danghter of Mr. and Mri. Frank Scherrer, and Thomat A. Cul bertson, ton of Mr. and Mn. Thomaa A. Culbertson. Sr. The prominent valley cou ple, both of whom aie pilots. left yesterday In the Medford Flying club'i Cub coupe for Lai Vegas, Nev., where they were to be united in marriage today. The petite blonde bride chose a rose-colored redingote and white accessories for her wed ding ensemble. Following their marriage, the couple were to leave by plane for Los Angeles and Catalina Island for a week's honeymoon. They will return to this city to make their home near the Medford airport. The bride is well known In the valley for her activities in student aviation, being one of the first to take up flying. She Is secretary of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Culbertson has lived here for a number of years and Is the superintendent of the Med ford municipal airport. He is also flight instructor of the Southern Oregon College of Education's civilian pilot train ing course and the flight In structor for Medford and the Crater flying clubs. Mrs. Knoll Feted At Two Parties Mrs. Jimmy Knoll, who has been visiting in this city with bar two children, Doreen and Kay Sue, was entertained re eently at a delightful tea at the borne of Mrs. George Barker. Members of the young mar ried class of the Methodist church were guests at the affair between the hours of 2 and 5 dock. Mrs. Ralph Woodford, teacher of the class and Mrs. John Hubler, aunt of Mrs. Knoll presided at the tea table. Mrs. Knoll and her mother, Mrs. Susan Chetelat, both of Denver, Colo., were guests of honor at a dinner party also given at the Barker home. Julie Carpenter To Graduate Soon Mr. and Mrs. Alfred S. V. Car penter left yesterday by motor car for San Francisco, where they will sojourn for several weeks. On June 7 In Rosa, Cel., the Carpenters will attend com mencement exercises at Kather ine Branson's school for girls at which time their daughter. Miss Julia Carpenter will graduate. The Carpenters expect to re turn to their home on the Old Stag Road about June IB. Group Leave tor North Vacation Mr. and Mrs. J. E. McAllister accompanied by their two daughters, Mrs. John D. Raffer ty and Mrs. Wiley Phares, left yesterday by motorcar for the r.orth where they will vacation for a week. The Browns Return From Extended Stay in Arizona ' Mr. and Mrs. Walter Frazer Brown returned to their home on West 11th street Friday afternoon by motorcar from an extended vacation. After a brief visit in Visalla, Cal., with their son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. and Mrs Leonard C. Brown, they went to Chicago, 111., by train where they visited for several weeks with their son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. McClure (nee Emily Brown). The Browns spent the re mainder of the winter months In Tucson, Ariz. They had been away from Medford since last September. Medford Girl Is Bride of Thursday At a simple but Impressive wedding held Thursday noon at the home of the Rev. and Mrs Fred M. Weathcrford, Miss Ret ty Jacquiline Beard of Medford became the bride of Louis Kula of Modoc Point. Rev. Weathcrford, pastor of the Nazarene church united the couple in marriage. Mr. and Mrs. W. C-. Beard, psrents of the bride, and her brother, were among the wed ding guests. The Thompsons lived In the northern city before coming to Medford. Mr. Thompson has been assistant cashier of the First National bank of Portland, Medford branch. Miss Shreve, pretty 19-year-old Medford high school graduate, is a prominent member of the younger set here. She will be dressed In full Elizabethan costume of 300 years ago and with her court, will be the official "good-will ambassador" of the Festival. Plans are being made for her appearance in a number of cities throughout Oregon and northern California, advertising the plays. "5pnn Fling" Is Enjoyable Social Affair The younger set gathered at Dreamland hall last week to participate in the Senior Girl Scout "Spring Fling". The bride wore a dark blt tailored suit with white acces sories and a corsage of white rosebuds and bouvardia. Attending the couple were the bride's sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Agre of Portland. Rev. W. A. Dawes, pastor of the First Bap tist church here, officiated at the ceremony. The rooms were beautifully decorated with garden flowers for the occasion. After the wedding the couple left for a short honeymoon and returned here Thursday for a visit of several days. ' They will make their home in Mc Minnville. Miss Fick Sails For Honolulu Stay Miss Virginia Fick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fick, sailed Friday on the Matsonian line from San Francisco for Honolulu, to spend the summer. Miss Fick. teacher in the Klamath Falls high school, plans to attend summer school in the islands during part of the summer. She will also visit from time to time with Mr. and Mrs.' Duane Malone, 1701 B. Kewalo, Honolulu; Mrs. J. H. Williams and -son Maurice at Hilo. 318 Lehua avenue.
