Jr., was a passenger going to San Francisco on the forenoon United Mainliner to day. Earl Leever was a pas senger to Portland on the early morning plane. Boarding the midnight southbound plane for Los Angeles were H. W, Irwin and J. A. Lyons. On the south bound flagstop E. Eustis and C. H. Jonas went to San Francisco and T. V. Williams got off the same plane from Portland. L. M. Weisenburger and R. W. Reppert were passengers off the evening northbound flagstop Monday. Job Tests U. S. civil sen-ice commission today announced open competitive examinations for the following positions: asso ciate materials inspector, S3200 a year, and assistant materials Inspector, $2600 a year, U. S. maritime commission; stationary firemen. $1320 and $1200 a year, public buildings adminis tration, federal works agency; chemical positions in four grades with salaries from $4600 to $3200 a year. Full informa tion about the positions may be obtained at Medford postoffice from Stanley G. Sherwood, acting secretary of the local board of civil service exam iners. AT ROTARY MEET It was "Farmers' Day" at the luncheon meeting of Medford Rotary club today at Hotel Med ford, and a number of Rotarians brought farmer guests to enjoy a special program arranged by Tom Wray. A feature of the entertainment was a series of sleight-of-hand tricks performed by" John Eac, Medford ma gician. Burton Isaac, Medford high school drum champion, also presented three drum num bers. In the preliminary portion of the program, Dr. Charlea Lem ery, club president, arranged for a series of fines for club members which netted more than $25 for the current Red Cross campaign. Lee Bishop discussed briefly the war in Europe and gave some highlights of an interest ing article published in London last January, predicting various events which have since trans pired.
