MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE. MEDFORD. OREGON. TUESDAY. MAY 28. 19 10. PAGE THREE Cop Lout Plot Salem, May 28. (JP) Frank Winslaw, former Salem police officer who was discharged on charge of incompetence and discourtesy to the public, lost his fight for reinstatement to day when the state supreme court held that Chief of Police Frank Mint had authority to dis miss Winslow, By golly, she's just like a two-year-old FULL of energy and spirit of oomph and animation is the Golden Gate Interna tional Exposition, which once more is welcoming its thou sands to Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. Just like a two-year-old it is, in this, its second year. ' Where that good American expression came from, we don't exactly know. Sometimes it seems to mean a thoroughbred alive and sleek and swift moving. Again it connotes a youngster who has found feet and voice and become a new, dynamic personality. Either way it fits this Fair and this Fair fits it. We shan't attempt to describe the Exposition's new, its ma tured charms. It's enough to consider the miracle of its very existence. In a war-torn world, already blackening everyone's tomorrows, it sits a bright mo ment for the snatching a pre cious bit of fun-loving, peace loving, progressive America. That, say we, is the proper spirit. That, we believe, is a spirit which will move Ameri cans everywhere to take foot in hand and travel San Francisco-ward. By their presence they will make this Exposition the expression of a people who share that stamina and joy-of-living which makes them too just like a two-year-old.
