the bee stands of John Yabsley
on Stevens street, killinf a num
ber of busy workers and the
neighborhood received official
cognizance again.

The fire department was call
ed at 6:30 last evening to put
out the first grass blaze of the
year. The fire was In a vacant
lot at Fourth and Grape
streets. The department's chem
ical crew put the fire out.
The blaze centered attention
again on the recent appeal of
Chief Roy Elliott to cut all grass
from buildings, alleys and va
cant lota. Dry, tall grass, the
chief pointed out, ia a danger
ous fire hazard.

NEW GRAND JURY 10
BE SELECTED
At the opening of the May
term of the circuit court next
Monday a new grand Jury will
be drawn, and continue in ses
sion for several days, it was
announced by the district attor
ney today. A number of crim
inal matters will be presented.
As it is the opening day of a
new term the court will not
open until 10 a. m.
The grand Jury will be drawn
from the panel of 31 jurors re
cently drawn. The first seven
names from the Jury box will
comprise the grand Jury.

ham Lincoln, died yesterday of
a cerebral hemorrhage. He had
been ill a week. Long a student
and collector of Lincolniana,
Hertr was known best for his
"Hidden Lincoln," published in
1938.
