President Roosevelt disclosed
plans today to give basic train
ing as pilots to 50.000 men In
the twelve months beginning
July 1.

pansion contemplated in flier
training, the chief executive not

Those who will take the basic
training, the chief executive
said, will come from three
sources:
1. The 433 colleges and
school now cooperating with
the CAA in providing training;
also other schools which desire
to come into the program.
2. A large group of citizens
who have pilot Mcenses or have
had them and permitted them
to lapse.
3. Men in the age group of 18
to 25 years who are not in col
lege but want to make them
selves available for the aviation
service if they are called upon

who have sensed its value and
are eager to promote It.

Funeral services for E. J. Mc
Veigh, 21.' who died of Injuries
received when his car crashed
into a Greyhound bus on the
Greensprings highway west of
Keno late Wednesday, will be
held in Klamath Falls Monday.
The deceased was a brother
of Arthur S. McVeigh of 526
South Ivy street, who is in
Klamath Falls making arrange
ments for the funeral.
Other relatives coming for
the service include the youth's
brothtrs Donald and Ramond,
of Nebraska: his father, Arthur
Sr.: his aunt, Miss Ealla Timon
of Mt. Angel and his sister and
brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. F.

of the Bend Free Press, to three
years in prison today and then
placed him on probation. Pierce
pleaded guilty last February to
sending obscene matter through
the mail in connection with an
editorial attack upon Robert W.
Sawyer, editor and publisher of
the Bend Daily Bulletin.
