PAGE NINE "Dr. Kildare's Strange Case" Opens Three-Day Run At Craterian Today T CAST IN NEW Lionel Barrymore, and Lew Ayres Stars March of Time on Program. The romance behind the walls of a great hospital and drama tic moments of a life and death struggle mingle in the newest of the popular medico-detective "Dr. Kildare" stories. "Dr. Kil dare's Strange Case", which opens a three day run today at the Craterian Theatre. With Lew Ayres and Lionel Barry more again in their familiar roles as the impetuous young interne. Dr. James Kildare, and the eminent diagnostician, Dr Leonard Gillespie, the story re volves about a supposed incur, able psychiatric case. After Kildare has refused a tempting and highly remunera tive life-time post in a private sanitarium, he returns to his hospital and is assigned to sur gery. His first case is an acci dent victim, demanding im mediate brain surgery. His pa tlent comes out of his coma hopelessly insane, and Kildare's friend, Shepperd Strudwick, is held responsible for having bungled the operation. raking matters in his own hands, Kildare does a little de tective work and administers insulin shock treatments to re store the patient to mental norm alcy. Though he refused to let Dr. Gillespie or even the head of the hospital, Dr. Carew, know what he is doing, Ayres goes ahead, brings the patient out of insanity and thereby clears himself and the surgeon friend. Carrol Naish. Miss Lamour plays a girl, Ore and Bullion Purchased sarong-clad Dorothy Lamourcast away on a deserted island when she was ten who, when grown, drifts to a nearby Island inhabited by a derelict navy of ficer the outcome of which is said to be the most actionful and beautiful story ever told in tech nicolor. The underwater swim ming shots are a highlight of the film. Jones Family Coming To Rialto nm i mut.mi More trouble comes into the lives of America's favorite screen family The Jones Fam ily in their new and most up roarious film "On Their Own", which heads the double bill coming to the New Rialto Thea tre for Wednesday and Thurs day. According to advance re ports, they're a scream as they try to retrieve the family for tune and this time, without the help of Dad. Featured in the popular family are Spring Byington. Ken Howell. George Ernest, June Carlson and Billy Mahan. Where there are beautiful wo men there's bound to be ro mance and so it is with "And One Was Beautiful", which plays as the supporting feature with "On Their Own". Settings include a bird's-eye view of a large surgery room and the picturization of a deli cate brain operation, the grounds of a large sanitarium, the interior and exterior of a great hospital, and the private quarters of Dr. Gillespie. Featured in the cast are La raine Day, as " the understand ing sweetheart of Ayres: Shep perd Strudwick as the friend of Kildare who is accused of bung ling the brain operation; Samuel S. Hinds and Emma Dunn as young Jimmy's father and moth er who again hcl phim to bur den some of his inner respon sibilities; Alma Kruger as Gil' lcspie's nurse. Comedy high lights are supplied by Nat Pen dleton as the ambulance driver with a faculty for weilding a wrench, and Marie Blake as the gum-snapping telephone opera tor. A new "Crime Doesn't Pay" subject titled ."Know Your Money" is also on the bill open ing today at the popular Cen tral street showhouse. Based upon the bulletins sent out by banking houses of the country. "Know Your Money" is a short drama built around the work ings of counterfeiters and their million-dollar rackets.
