Mr. and Mrs. Johnson went as far east as Detroit where they took delivery on a new automobile, having made the trip to the Michigan motor car center by train. On the re turn trip they visited In Bed ford, Iowa, Chaplain Johnson s home town, Kearney, Neb., and Denver, Colo., calling upon rel atives in each city. The travel lers were to continue from here this afternoon to Redding, Cal., where Chaplain Johnson makes his headquarters. He serves in the southern part of the Med ford CCC district. ... Chosen For Nary Announce ment was made today of the tentative selection of seven youths for U. S. navy enlist ment to fill the quota allotted the southern Oregon district for May. Selected were William R. Wright, son of Mrs. Eva M. Stallsworth of 1207 Court street, Lyle R. Baker of Grants Pass, Andrew M. McAlister of Wolf Creek. Glen A. Cripps of Riddle, Robert N. Cheney of Valsetz, George T. Sanderson of Willow Ranch, Cal., and Verl C. Tilley of Tulelake, Cal. The men will leave here by train Sunday night for Portland where they will be given their final physical examinations. If they pass the final tests, they will go immediately to the San Diego naval station for two months of preliminary training before being assigned to duty. George E. Patterson, recruiter here, said the navy recruiting office in the Medford federal building Is continuing to re ceive applications for enlistment from eligible men. VP) The British admiralty announced to night that naval aircraft de stroyed fuel tanks at Slor gaaspynt, blew up two tanks at Strudshaven and fired two more at Knarven, all in the Bergen area of Norway.
