It was decided to ob serve Arbor day, February 0, by seting out hardy, quick grow ing trees on the west side of the Grange hall which will give shade from summer sun. Building committee reported materials will be ready for seal ing the ceiling of the main as sembly room and men are re quested to please report at the Grange hall Sunday, January 14 at 9:30 a. m. to begin work. It is estimated a dozen men can seal the main part in two Sun days. We are anxious to have this work completed before Po mona meeting January 27 so all men who can are urged to help. The law, the action charged violates "protected rights working people to Join and con duct labor- unions," deprives unions of the due process of law, abridges freedom of speech and press, conflicts with congres sional statutes, Is vague and "not reasonably susceptible of ascer tainment or application and em braces subjects not referred to in the act's title. W) Hen ri St. Jacques, the legal rep resentative of OHva Dlonne said today that It was "likely" the quintuplets would b shown at the New York world's fair this summer. Authorities closer to the lit tle girls were not so sure, how ever, and there ' was definite opposition In some quarters. At Ottawa the lawyer sata he believed the Ontario gov ernment would allow the quin tuplets to be shown at the fair, which the parents are reported to favor. "It will have to be done by an arrangement between New York state and the Ontario government," he said. Premier Mitchell Hepburn said "the decision is up to the quints' board of guardians and their doctor, Dr. Allan Roy Dafoe." Dafoe declined com ment but Judge J. A. Valln of North Bay, one of the guar dians, said "Iff too risky." New York reports have been that the quintuplets were sought as the 1940 "super at traction" but officials said no formal proposition had been ad vanced. COULEE CONTRACTORS DENIED LARGE CLAIM Washington, Jan. 11. UP) A $9,000,000 claim against the government by contractors in construction of the Grand Cou lee dam was dismissed today by the court of claims. The contractors, Silas Mason, Co., Inc., Walsh Construction company, and the Atklnson-Kler company, claimed the money was due under a contract for construction of the "first devel opment" of the Grand Coulee dam and power plant for $29, 339,301.
