(Spl.V A pageant, "The Coming of the Christmas Spirit," with 32 chil dren and young people taking part, will be presented Sunday night at 7:30 in the Gold Hill hotel. It is sponsored by the undenominational Bible school started here recently. K. Earl Voiles is the missionary pastor and director of the pageant. Hampered by lack of ships, the Canadian navy has been making up for Its small numbers by ceaseless activity. Destroyers Churn Up and down Canada's Pa cific coast churn destroyers, arch enemies of the submarine. Stubby mine-sweepers patrol the channels outside the har bors, making sure no enemy mines have been laid. Inspec tion boats lie outside the har bors night and day, examining all vessels entering port. In and out of the countless inlets and bays that might furnish naven to submarines or raiders move tiny fishing craft, now mounting guns and flying the white ensign. Lady Too Violent Is Divorce Claim Seattle, Dec. 23. (U.R) Clar ence E. Swetnam, ferry purser, today sought divorce from his 32-year-old wife, accusing her of "an unusually jealous disposi tion and an ungovernable tem per." Mrs. Swetnam last week con fessed she placed a dynamite bomb which partially demol ished her estranged husband's car. She said she wanted tn hp use "he wouldn't take any other woman around in it. Lindbergh does not expect to concentrate on aviation in the future and hence has resigned from the national advisory committee for aeronau tics. White House Secretary Stephen T. Early announced yesterday. Early disclosed President Roosevelt had appointed Brig. Gen. Walter J. Kilner, retired assistant chief of the U. S. army air corps, to succeed Lindbergh on the N.A.C.A., a semi-official organization created to coordin ate aerial research and develop ment in connection with na tional defense.
