session of the candy sales con
cession tor one week to enable
them to pay for their page in
this year's annual.
A special feature for this
week is announcement of the
winners in the ping pong tour
nament. In the beginners' finals,
Jean Lillie met Barbara Ran
dolf, with Jean Lillie taking the
title. For the advanced players'
finals, Pat Dippel, Savella
Davidson,. June Kincald, and
Dorothy Cyr, paired off, with
June Kincald emerging victor-
ious and making her the cham
pion of the advanced girl play
ers, bavella Davidson won the
consolation honors from Pat
Dippel.
Shuffleboard practice has be
gun with practices held this
week. A large number of girls
have signed up but more are
asked to participate. Volleyball
has been active for the past
two weeks with a tournament
to start this week. Girls still
have a chance to earn at least
five points In this tournament.
All members and prospective
members of the Girls' Athletic
association are reminded that
points may be made by hiking,
bicycling, or skating.

The first regular scout meeting
of the reorganized troop 17,
held December 7, was attended
by 14 boys. Nothing special
was done but an active and well
organized scout troop appears
well on Its way to actuality.

defeated the Gold Hill townics
23 to 12, December 8, The game
was hurriedly scheduled with
the town team because it seemed
impossible to get any game with
another high school.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hall of
Klamath Falls spent Sunday
night here with Mr. Hall's sister
and family, Mr. and Mrs. Earl
Moore.
George Amo, owner of the
Gold Hill hotel, has traded the
hotel for property In Grants
Pass and vicinity. Mr. and Mrs.
Amo will leave for their new
property soon.
Immunizations (or smallpox
and diphtheria were given at
the Gold Hill school December
11 by the county health officer.

teresting meeting December 4.
The "hobo" lunch was quite a
success. Worthy lecturer, sister
Greenwood had an Interesting
program, especially one rousing
number, a song by Frank Green
wood, George Hutchins and
Frank Hall.
Next meeting will be our
Christmas party. Members are
to bring gifts for the Grange
instead of Individuals.
The pie social December 1
was well attended and we wish
to thank all who took part in
the program and evening.

day Is Henry Armstrong's 27th
birthday and the world's welter
weight boxing champion has
something to celebrate.
Last night Henry returned to
the form that won him his big
following and the nickname
"Hammerln' Han k," as he
pounded Jimmy Garrison of
Kansas City to the floor in the
seventh round for a technical
knockout.
Al Hostak, the Seattle slug
ger, retained his world's mid
dleweight crown by flattening
Eric Seelig of New York In
the first round.
The Armstrong and Hostak
bouts topped the 14th annual
Cleveland News Christmas show
that attracted 10,088 fans, gross
ed $28,578 and dumped approx
imately $10,000 into a toyshop
fund.
