CHAMPION STEER
.35 LB.
Chicago, Dec. 7. JP) Lucky
Boy, grand champion steer of
the International Livestock ex
position, today sold at auction
for $1.33 a pound.
The price paid for the hand
some Hereford steer, raised in
Texas, was only a dime ibove
the depression low of $1.20
which was paid in 1932. The
1 6-months-old steer weighed
1,220 pounds. It was owned
by Mayfield Kothmann, 18, a
4-H club boy from Mason coun
ty, Texas.
Lucky Boy's sale price w,s
$2 a pound below that paid for
Irene Brown's handsome Abei-deen-Angus
steer last year,
which sold for- $3.35 a pound.
The all-time high price for
grand championship steer auc
tions was reached in 1929 when
Lucky Strike, an Iowa product,
sold for 58.25 a pound.
The Texas steer was the prod
uct of a pure-blooded sire and
an ordinary range cow.
that he thought the entire west
was "still for Roosevelt."
The president and he did not
talk politics, he said.

Washington, Dec. 7 (TP)

praying that he runs" for a
third term.
"There is only one candidate
out in Oregon that is the presi
dent," Mahoney said, adding
