The yellow bugle or barb eve Friday evening In having Mrs. j Ethel Lnthrop, our Country Wo men of the World League dele gate, talk to us and show mov ing pictures of her travels which were most interesting. This meeting having been "booster night," Master Roscoe Roberts gave the booster address, givin? the benefits and advantages of being a Grange member. Mrs. Mariorie Rushton favored tis with two vocal solos. Ninona Newlin played a guitar solo and Lucile Jessen sang. At the close all Joined in a grand march and were served refreshments by the H.E.C. ladies. Our annual Thanksgiving tur key dinner at the Grange hall was a most delightful affair with a large attendance for both dinner and supper. Games anil visiting was enjoyed by every one. We were happy to have Mr. and Mrs. Brown of Lake Creek Grange as our guests. Plans are already under way for the next public dance which is to be held at the Roxy Ann Grange hall on Spring street Saturday night, December 2nd, with Merrill's orchestra to fur nish their usual good music. A hearty invitation is extended to everyone to attend. Forest Creek Forest Creek, Nov. 28. (Spl.) Mrs. Annie Davics returned to her home here November 22 after an extended visit at the home of her daughter and son- in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Wag ner, in Seattle, Wash. Mr. and Mrs, Charlie Madsen recently enjoyed a trip to Mel ba, Idaho, where they visited relatives. They are now mak ing their home In Jacksonville while Mr. Madsen is employed in logging operations on Pleas ant creek. Thanksgiving Day was spent quietly in this community, fam ily dinners being enjoyed in every home. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crump and family moved to their cabin on the right fork from their summer residence at Star ranger station, last week. They expect to reside here this winter. The Garrity dredge is oper ating full shifts this week, but is pumping water, as not suf ficient rain has fallen to give adequate water supply. A wave of illness swept over this community, leaving not a family untouched. Attendance at school has dropped below half. GOEBBELS TELLS Berlin, Nov. 28. (IP) Five Lockheed bl-motorcd bomb ing planes known as the "Hud son type, destined for ureat Britain, arrived at Floyd Ben nett airport today from Bur- bank, Calif., for dismantling and shipment abroad by surface vessel. (IP) French reports said today a German at tack east of the Moselle river, near the Luxembourg frontier, was repulsed by machine gun fire yesterday. A company of troops tried to seize French outposts after an h o u r's artillery preparation which Included the use of smoke shells against French batteries. Concentrated French fir forced the Germans to with draw, French military reports said. In the war at sea France was preparing to Join Britain in blockade of German exports. A naval source, asked for an opinion on the number of Ger man submarines sunk by the French navy since the start of the war, expressed belief the number was about 10, of which six were certain losses, having previously been reported. With scant activity on the war front the French are turning to long term preparations on the home front. Parliament has been called to meet Thursday in its first ses sion of the war to approve the Daladier regime 8 conduct of the war, extend its power to rule by decree and vote on civil budget to carry the war into 1940. This morning's communique of the high command said merely: "Nothing of importance to report on the front during the night." $- Stockholm, Nov. 28.-WP)-The foreign office today handed the German charge d'affaires a "most determined protest against the violation of Swedish territory" by mine laying in shipping lanes. A communique added that Sweden reserved the right of compensation for losses to ship ping through the Baltic. Mines and storms halted traffic today. (German-Swedish trade nego tiations were disrupted Nov. 14 and reliable sources said one of the reasons was the German de sire to establish mine fields up to the three-mile limit of Swed ish waters opposite the Danish coast.)
