Bill Knutaen of Wlnnemucea, Nev.. Is recovering from head Injuries sus tained In a mine explosion two weeks ago, according to word received by relatives here. When a blast dis charged unexpectedly. Mr. Knutaen was struck on the head by a sharp rock, causing concussion of the brain' as well as an eye injury. His condi tion was not serious, however, and he was released from a hospital after 10 days' treatment. Mr. Knutaen Is a son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Smith of Medford. Mr. and Mrs. Holland Smith of Ruch were among those who enter tained at a family dinner on Thanks giving. Among those attending the an nual convention of Rebekah Lodges In Medford, Nov. 18, were Beulah Nathan, Belle Smith, Evelyn Thompson and Willie McLean. The convention will be held in Gold Hill, next year with Evelyn Thompson as chairman and Belle Smith, sec retary. Twenty-five members of Amethyst Rebekah lode of this city went to O rants Pass November 20 where they met In Joint session with Etna Re bekah lodge of that city. Alma Henderson, president of the Rebekah assembly of Oregon was present, as well as the state chairman of pub licity for Rebekah lodges. Etna Re bekah lodge exemplified the degree work. Miller and Mrs. George Laure were In Medford November 16 where Mrs. Laure was having dental work done. Otto Furhman was elected director for the Gold Hill Irrigation Ditch. Mr. Furhman has served as director for a number of years and has always been a very efficient member of the board, so there was no opposition. Rogue River Rogue River, Nov. 24. (Spl.) Dennis shows that during the past two weeks absence from school has not been much above the average. Of 359 pupils enrolled not more than eight or ten have been absent each day. School closed Wednesday evening for Thanks giving vacation and will be reopened Monday morning, November 97.
