(fP) Violent storms kept German troops on the western front busy yesterday removing uprooted trees, DNB. the official news agency, report ed today. The weather prevented Ger man reconnaissance flights, but "TnF V"'- -Sr 1 ; ; k - I I'll 1 1 V t ksss r l planes already in the air re turned safely, DNB said in eluci dating today's high command communique, which stated simp ly "no special events" yesterday. (Widespread scouting today over France by German planes was reported from Paris while in England anti-aircraft batteries went into action against an un identified plane). Busy In Baltic Regarding mercantile sea war fare the report stated units of the German navy continued "to be busy in the Baltic, the North sea and in all oceans." As for the western front activ ity, enemy planes penetrated Germany territory only in the immediate neighborhood of the border, DNB said. Apparently the "lively machine-gun and ride fire on both sides," reported in yesterday's communique, spent itself with out follow-up action. That com munique also took note of "localized artillery activity" elsewhere on the front. (A dispatch from Basel, Switz erland, said flood waters of the Rhine had driven French and German soldiers from their river front pillboxes at the southern extremity of their lines. (Of aerial activity, a dispatch from The Hague told of an ex change of fire between a tres passing German plane, over the island of Schiermannikoof, and one of a flight of Netherlands pursuit planes. Apparently neither was struck.) E AT LOWEST EBB The past two weeks, "have been the quietest since I took office, as far as crime in Jackson county is concerned," Sheriff Syd I. Brown said today. Bureau of Agriculture says: "It isn't accidental that beer comes in brown bottles; that color is chosen because it filters out ultra-violet and infra-red rays." Most of the world's fine beers come in dark bottles to protect their flavors against these harmful light rays. For fullest protection, Olympia always comes in dark brown bottles. Yes, "It's the Water!" The waters of Button-on-Trent, England, and Mu nich, Germany, became famous in the 13th century because of the quality of the beers pro duced therefrom. Mr. Leopold Schmidt discovered the same MEMBER quality of brewing water at Tumwater in 1895 and thereupon founded the Olympia Brewing Company. Today the same water is used in brewing Olympia Beer as was used before Repeal by the same family of Master Brewers.
