Couple Married
Saturday Noon
The marriage of Miss Jean
Garman and Fletcher T. Fish
was solemnized Saturday at 12
o'clock noon at St. Mary's Epis
copal church in Eugene. The
Rev. Father Ernest S. Bartlam
officiated.
The bride wore a smart black
costume suit trimmed with black
Persian lamb, a black and red
hat and a corsage of white orch
ids and lilies-of-the-valley.
A wedding luncheon at the
Osborne Hotel followed the cere
mony. Among guests were the
bride's mother, Mrs. I. N. Gar
man of Portland, her two aunts,
Mrs. M. W. Garman and Miss
Blanche Comstock of Belling
ham, Wash., and her cousin,
Mrs. Rose Stannard Watrous of
New Haven, Conn. Others pres
ent were the Misses Helen Par
ish and Enid Funk of this city.
The prominent Medford couple
will make their home in Phoenix
after a brief wedding trip.
Mrs. Fish attended the Uni
versity of Oregon in Eugene and
has made her home in this city
for the past two years. Mr. Fish
has been a resident of the valley
most of his life and is associated
with the United States Depart
ment of Agriculture here.

Mrs. Edna Myers entertained
at her home on West Second
street last week with a party
honoring her daughter. Miss
Betty, whose fifteenth birthday
prompted the occasion.
The affair was a surprise and
., group of Miss Betty's play
mates dropped In during the
evening for a waffle dinner.
Hallowe'en colors decorated
the table and baskets of candy
formed the place cards. A birth
day cake was the table center
piece and yellow and white
chrysanthemums were pretty
bout the rooms.

A well known resident of
Medford for the past twenty
years, Mr. J. F. Holbrook of 17
Almond street, observed his 90th
birthday Friday at his home
when twenty-two members of
his family gathered from far and
near to celebrate the occasion.

dles. The cake was ordered thru
a local baker by Mr. Holbrook's
daughter, Mrs. George Anderson
of Hastings, Neb. The card at
tached to the cake was also
signed by the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren of Mr. Hol
brook who reside in Hastings.
The 90-year-old Medford gen
tleman, was born in Sparta,
North Carolina in 1849.

Celebrate Fifty
Years of Marriage
Celebrating their fiftieth wed
ding anniversary Monday, No
vember 6 were Mr. and Mrs.
John Walters of 36 Chestput
street.
The bride and groom of a hall
century ago were wed in Ash
land on November 6, 1889 and
have made their home in Med
ford almost . continuously since
that time. ' ,
The couple's children are Mrs
Grace Williams, Mrs. Marie
Cearley, Clyde Walters, all of
Medford, Marion Walters of An
telope and Raymond Walters of
Montana.
Mrs. Walters was Miss Lavina
Whetstone prior to her marriage
of many years ago. She came
to this valley with her parents
when she was two years old.

Weds Mr. Gifford

Of interest to their many val
ley friends is the recent wedding
of Miss Erma V. Thompson to
Randall M. Gifford. The young
couple were united in marriage
Sunday, November 5 in the Fed
erated church in Central Point
following the regular church ser
vice. The Rev. Stanley Parish
officiated.
Bridesmaid was Miss Earlene
Young and best man was Donald
Niedermeyer. Clayton Yost and
Morris Byrenc were ushers.

bride's grandparents, Mr. and

The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Arlie Thompson of
Central Point and is a graduate
of the high school there.
Mr. Gifford is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. Tt J. Gifford, well
known and long time residents
of the valley. He is a graduate
of the Medford high school.-
The newly wedded couple are
now at home on the Old Stage
road.

Wednesday Eve
A meeting of unusual interest
to all members of P.E.O., chap
ter BE, will be held Wednesday
evening at 6:30 o'clock at the
Hotel Medford.
The dinner and program event
has been called for the purpose
of greeting Mrs. P. T. Shaw,
state P.E.O. organizer from Port
land, who will be the guest of
honor during the evening.
A meeting at the home of Mrs.
R. G. Fowler on Kings highway
will follow the dinner session at
8 o'clock. It is expected that
all members will attend.

Will Conduct Fall

Zuleima Temple, Daughters of
the Nile, will travel to Klamath
Falls next Saturday, November
18, for a fall ceremonial. Lenora
Kellom, queen of the temple will
conduct the impressive service.
The event will take place in
the Masonic Temple and will
include a stated session and
ceremonial at 2 o'clock.
A dinner dance at the Willard
Hotel with a program during the
evening, will follow the previous
entertainment.
Zuleima Klamath Falls Nile
club is sponsoring the affair and
it is expected that many mem
bers from Medford will attend.

Health Meet
Jacksonville Health meeting
will be held Tuesday at 1 o'clock
at the home of Mrs. A. L. Beck
in Jacksonville. The hostess will
serve dessert and members are
to bring their own sandwiches.

Heckmans Leave
For Pennsylvania
Dr. and Mrs. W. H. Heckman
plan to leave this evening for
Greenville, Penn., where they
will visit their brothers and
sisters and Mrs. Heckman's chil
dren. They will travel by train
and will go via Sacramento and
Chicago.
The couple expect to start
back to Medford about Decem
ber 5 going by way of Cincin
nati, New Orleans and Los An
geles, visiting enroute. They will
return to their home on Corning
court about December 10.
